Looking through photos from a wedding can be nostalgic, sweet, and often emotional. However, it only takes that one awkward bridesmaid photo, perfectly timed photobomb, or the pic of the wedding cake falling in midair to make you stop and laugh. Even though wedding photos tend to be sweet, full of love, and light-hearted, we all love a good awkward photo that was caught by a genius photographer. Read on to see some of the silliest, most cringe-worthy, and most graceless wedding highlights.
There Goes the Cake...
The faces of the bride and groom say it all. As they went to cut their cake, this unfortunate couple ended up with it all over the floor. Just imagine dancing and celebraing with your friends then comes the golden moment of cutting the cake, and other plans were in store. The groom seems to be more worried and the bride seems to think it's funny. At least we can always count on the five second rule, right?
No matter what happens during the cake cutting ceremony, at least you can count on your other half to go through it with you. Success or not, the point is to get messy and have fun, regardless if the floor is involved.
Too Late To Chicken Out
Cute pic, right? The bride looks happy, and the groom looks happy. It's their wedding day! Now scan the background. As they pose for this adorable shot, there seems to be a chicken man hiding in the bushes. Maybe the theme of their wedding was chickens and all their guests had chicken suits, maybe the chicken man was the nutty uncle looking for some laughs, or maybe the chicken man was the uninvited guest, hoping to sneak in in disguise.
Whatever the case may be, our mystery chicken man seems to have accomplished something epic - a perfectly timed chicken man photo bomb. The cherry on top would've been someone standing next to him in a McDonald's chicken sandwich costume.
Sleepy Groom
This groom seems to have partied himself out. One second he was saying "I do," the next second he was dancing the night away with his guests, and finally he passed out on his bride's shoulder. Whether it was too much alcohol or the realization that all the wedding stress had come to an end, he looks quite comfortable. With a passed-out groom and a happy bride, you know it was a good night.
As this man's wife is clearly still functional and basking in newlywed joy, he seems to have taken to her shoulder as a pillow. He should've followed in her footsteps and sobered up with a nice cup of joe.
Butt Bomb
If this shot doesn't scream typical cat, I don't know what does. Our newlyweds are off in the distance, gazing into each other's eyes, and right as the photographer was about the snap the pic, this cat decided to walk right into view. Not only do we get a nice, clear image of the cat's rear, but his facial expression is clearly stating that he cares much more about himself and his anus than the couple.
Leave it to cats to always put themselves before anything or anyone else. Hopefully, this couple has a good sense of humor and set this pic to be the first one in the slideshow they played for their wedding guests.
Exposed Statue
All the anxiety and craziness of planning and preparing for a wedding can definitely distract the bride and groom from enjoying their special day. In this case, this bride and her bridesmaids found something that definitely helped alleviate the stress. All dolled up and ready to walk down the aisle, these ladies couldn't stop giggling about the nude statue behind them. The bride is definitely getting a kick out of the situation, as one of her bridesmaids covers up the statue's private parts with her bouquet.
tThis bride and her bridesmaids deserve credit for their creativity. Most wedding backdrops include things like a sunset, the ocean, or grassy fields. In this case, these ladies wanted to post in front of a nude statue.
Ready For My Horse-Up
Getting married at a stable can be really pleasant, especially in the spring when the weather is perfect for wedding season. You have plenty of room for guests and there's always a nice backdrop, whether it's the rustic look of the stable or the wide open fields. Not to mention showing off dance moves to the Cotton Eye Joe and the decorations to match the theme. Horseshoe table numbers anyone?
In this case, a bride, her bridesmaids, and the flower girl were posing together by the stable when all of a sudden, one of the horses came right up to the women, flashed his pearly whites, and the photographer snapped the shot.
The Cows Just Couldn't Wait
You can tell that this pair is oblivious to what's going on behind them. With their arms casually hung over the banister of this barn, a couple of cows are doing the dirty only a few yards away from them. A barn setting is a beautiful place for a wedding, however, as we saw in the previous post, it's only a matter of time before the barn animals start acting up.
Hopefully, the couple either remained clueless about what was going on behind them or they had a good sense of humor about it. Some people go to a wedding hoping to meet their soulmate, but in this case, the cows are the ones who got lucky.
Bridesmaid Down
"I now announce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!" the officiant declares proudly. And just as the couple leans in for their first kiss as husband and wife, one of the bridesmaids decides to take a tumble. All we can see is that she has one shoe half off and the other completely off. This is what happens when you party too hard at the bachelorette party the night before the wedding.
With one bridesmaid down, the only person who seems to notice is the other bridesmaid. The couple clearly won't let anything distract them from their first married smooch. At least there's photoshop.
... And Groomsman Down
One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor! Following the above pic of our drunk bridesmaid, this drunk groomsman is keeping the party going. After one too many shots and dancing all night long, it seems that he walked to the center of the room, right in front of the newlyweds, and decided that that was the perfect spot to sleep off his inebriated state. And with his tie around his head, there's a good chance he was playing Blind Lady's Buff. What a nasty combination.
There's always that one friend at the wedding who does shots with the newlyweds' parents and before you know it, they're passed out face down with an embarrassing photo to look forward to.
Burlesque Wedding
If this photo doesn't scream "awkward," I don't know what does. At this burlesque-themed wedding reception, the bride and the dancers are having a grand ole time, but the look on the groom's face shows us otherwise. The wedding guests also seem to be enjoying the show, but a mix of confusion, shock, and what looks like fear tells us that this groom was not ready for his wedding surprise.
It's not uncommon to have dancers at a wedding reception, but they're usually there to lead the guests in fist-pumping or the YMCA. It seems that this bride wanted to break the trend and surprise her guests and her groom with something original.
Freaking The F Out
In this picture, it seems like for some reason, the bride is either sitting or standing on a toilet seat while two of her bridesmaids try to help fix something that had gone wrong with her dress. Bridesmaid number one seems to be shouting at the photographer to help, bridesmaid number two is face-first in the bride's many layers of her dress, and the bride is reaching for...what exactly?
Maybe she's reaching for a helping hand, or maybe someone's handing her a Xanax. Whatever it is, at least she had good friends to help her in a time of desperation.
Gettin' Sloppy
This shot definitely deserves to be someone's home screen. With the variety of facial expressions and chaos going on in this pic, one thing in common is it seems that everyone is either on their way to becoming completely smashed or they're already there. Both our bride and groom look like they just came from doing wedding shots at the bar, and one of their guests seems to have accidentally raised their glass a bit too aggressively.
Judging by the groom's untucked shirt and loosened tie, and the bride's dress strap starting to slip off her shoulder, I'd say that this wedding was definitely one they'll remember forever...or forget the next day.
Let's Set The Mood...
These two frisky pups just couldn't wait to get it on. The bride is beautiful and happy, the bridesmaids are all dolled up in matching purple dresses and gorgeous bouquets, everyone is posed so nicely, and then you look to the left, and, well, the dogs just couldn't wait. Maybe the music set the scene, or maybe they had just shared a nice bowl of Kibbles 'n Bits. Whatever it was, these pups had impeccable timing.
Pugs have a stereotype of being great companion dogs and also as constantly huffing and puffing. I'd say that these two definitely played into that stereotype on this day of holy matrimony.
Windy Wedding
You can tell just by looking at this bride's face that she regrets setting her wedding on this day. Not only is it raining (hence the umbrella), but the wind has completely blown her umbrella inside out and her hair and veil are also being blown all over the place. Some say that having nasty weather on your wedding day is actually good luck, but according to our bride's expression, she doesn't seem to believe that statement.
We all know that after the rain comes a rainbow, so hopefully the weather cleared up and the rest of the wedding pictures didn't include an inside-out umbrella and an upset bride.
Look Ma, No Sleeves!
These men definitely wanted to make a statement at this wedding. Instead of keeping it simple and sticking to matching ties and poses, they had to take it further, rip off their sleeves, and for who knows what reason, wear blue jeans. I'd say that the men's clothing choice made more of a statement than the bride's dress, and it simply does not look right when you factor in the tan lines and undefined muscles.
As unappealing as these clothing choices are, I have to give the guys credit for putting in the effort to match. Usually, the bridesmaids are particular about having the same hairstyle and holding matching bouquets. I'm just hoping that these guys don't start a trend.
Drop Your Pants
This pic is sure to bring smiles to this groom and his bride when they look back through their wedding album. You can imagine the looks on the faces of these wedding guests when the groom and his groomsmen dropped their pants for the camera. It's almost as bad as those bridesmaids who wear the matching pink sparkly thongs that say "Bridesmaid" right across the front. Leave it to a classy groom to coordinate matching underwear. At least no buttcracks were showing.
Although the idea of matching underwear is certainly...unique, the pic would have been much more epic if the groom and his groomsmen had blinged out the back of their jackets.
Planking Will Never Go Out Of Style
This pic must've been taken in 2011 when planking was actually a thing. You know that opening of the episode of The Office where everyone is planking in the parking lot, in the break room, in the bathrooms, etc? This picture reminds me of that, except this planker timed his act perfectly, centering himself right above the happy newlyweds. As the bride is leaning in with that new love smile and her groom plants a nice kiss on her cheek, our mystery planker is silently celebrating his accomplishment.
Planking became a huge trend in 2011 then slowly became less popular in 2012. You just don't see people planking anymore, but I hear they still do it in boarding school (ba dum tsss).
How Not To Pose
A quick glance at this photo and everything looks normal. You have a group of drunk wedding guests - three ladies on the left clearly laughing at or along with their two male friends who jumped into the photo with them. But if you take a closer look, you'll see to the other side of these gentlemen is another wedding guest who simply didn't know where to put her hands for the photo.
Maybe it was the pressure from the photographer to pose on "three," but this woman's natural reaction seemed to be to grab the nearest crotch to where she was standing. This pic is one for the books.
Cheesy Smiles All Around
All six of these ladies have smiles from ear to ear and how could they not? Their friend is getting married and they're there to witness it. They're all dolled up in matching dresses and bouquets, the wedding anticipation is among them... but wait! With clearly a perfectly timed photobomb, our friend in the back made sure to jump in on the fun from afar with a smile just as big as the rest of them.
This is one of those classic right place right time situations. The photographer was probably getting ready to take a picture of our beautiful bride and bridesmaids, and on "Cheese!" our lady of mystery popped up and flashed a smile for the camera.
Where's Waldo?
Calling all photobombers! With one of the best photobombs to date, this pic will have guests forever trying to find Waldo. With his red and white striped shirt and hat to match, this classic impersonator will never be forgotten by the bride, the groom, and the wedding guests. Cleverly hidden behind a tree, he was just waiting for the perfect photo op. I'll bet that our bride and groomsmen didn't even know he was there.
I'm not sure if this person was an invited guest or uninvited where's Waldo impersonator, but he is sure to go down in history as one of the best wedding photobombers and pop-up surprises once the couple goes through their wedding photos.
Dollar Tree Bride
At this point, I think we've seen the extent of creative wedding destinations. From fancy hotels to bungalows to elopements on a deserted island, I thought I'd seen it all. Until now. A bride getting married in a dollar store can mean one of two things: either this couple met at the dollar store and therefore it's a special place for them, or they simply wanted to throw everyone off and decided that out of all the typical wedding destinations, this would create the biggest reaction.
One pro to having your wedding in a dollar store must be that the cost of all the decorations will probably go down in history as the cheapest wedding ever. And the con is probably that although you're trying to commemorate a once-in-a-lifetime moment, average shoppers were probably in and out buying hair clips and one-dollar notebooks.
Wedding Or Prom?
One look at these ladies and you might think they're coordinating for a prom night. You remember those times - when you and your girlfriends would all get ready for senior prom, one of you in blue, one in pink, purple, orange, etc. However, this group of girls is dressed for a wedding. Maybe the wedding theme was senior prom, or maybe the bride requested that each bridesmaid wear a different colored dress. Whatever the case may be, this pic takes me back to prom night.
By completing their looks, these women also threw in a couple of fun hair scrunchies and had no filter when it came to the number of patterns, sequins, or sparkles on their dresses.
Dress Code Deactivated
What could go wrong at a beach wedding? You have the gorgeous view of the glistening water, the nice warm sand between your toes, the coconut cocktails with little umbrellas, and, of course, the bride and groom. Typically, a beach wedding dress code consists of flowy, light-colored dresses and beachy tailored suits. Right as this photographer was snapping a pic of the scene, this daring woman in her almost-nothing bikini walked right in front of him.
Whether she was a guest or not, this "suns out buns out" lady just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. A note to future beach wedding guests: make sure to read the dress code before attending the wedding!
Body Paint Wedding Party
A quick glance at this photo and nothing seems out of place - you have three brides and three grooms, walking hand in hand with big smiling faces. But if you look closer, you'll notice that they're half naked! Seeming to have their clothing painted on, this group of bold newlyweds sure does know how to make a statement. I wonder if the same dress code applied to their guests.
Weddings in which multiple couples get married at the same time aren't so popular nowadays, however, it seems like this daring group of friends wanted to remember their special day together.
Doggy Wedding Day Kisses
This handsome boy obviously had nothing but love to share with his owners. After their special day in which the dog was a guest (check out his tie!), they crouched down and were met with wet, sloppy kisses. Happy to receive the love, the bride and groom don't mind the kisses at all. They're pleased that their dog is also able to participate in the celebration and express his excitement.
Our newlyweds are enjoying all the love from their pooch, however, the kids in the background aren't as keen. Maybe it's the dog's excitement, maybe it's the sloppy kisses, but whatever it is, these kids are staying far away.
Here Comes The Bri... Cake
No, this man is not marrying two women. Yes, that is a wedding cake in front of him. This couple chose a wedding cake that was an exact replica of the bride. I wonder where the inspiration came from. Maybe they had hundreds of guests and wanted everyone to be able to see the bride or at least something that looked like the bride. Or maybe the family has a tradition of ordering the most cringy wedding cakes. Whatever the case may be, the couple looks like they're enjoying cutting their cake.
How would you react if you went to a wedding and saw a cake that was identical to the bride, or the groom, or even worse - the dog!? Maybe this is the next generation of baby-shaped baby shower cakes.
When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go
It's not every day that you're walking by a beautiful fountain and see that on the other side is a fully-dressed couple on their wedding day using it as their personal bathroom. This couple was likely in the middle of a photo shoot, hoping to capture picture-perfect moments from their special day when all of a sudden the bride realized that drinking four ice coffees in the last hour was probably a bad idea.
At least her partner is a trooper. He took off his wedding shoes, hiked up his dress pants, and stood on the fountain with her while she did her business, proving that he'll always be by her side.
When Taking Off The Garter Goes Too Far
The tradition of removing a bride's garter on her wedding day started during the Dark Ages when medieval bridesmaids would walk their brides to the wedding chamber, then the cry would arise, "Get her garter!" In this case, it seems that the new couple has taken the garter toss a bit too far. That groom is determined! Regardless of how many groomsmen it takes to hold him up or how many bridesmaids it takes to keep the bride from slipping forward.
Nowadays, the only medieval aspect of a wedding might be its' theme, but people still participate in the garter toss. Think of it as when the bride tosses her bouquet and throws it to her bridesmaids, but in this case, the groom removes the garter from his bride's upper thigh, then tosses it toward all the single men at the wedding.
Is THIS What I Get For Marrying You?
A lot of women dream about their future wedding when they're young. From what type of dress they'll wear, to how they'll do their hair and dancing with friends, the feeling of being a fairy princess for a day is unlike any other. One of the biggest parts of the big day is the wedding ring. Looking at this bride's face, you can tell something is off. With a face that says "is this what I'm worth?" she clearly didn't have a look at the ring prior to this moment.
You can tell that this bride was expecting something different when she opened the box. I hope her new hubby was understandable and willing to buy a new ring that didn't cause such a painful reaction.
Corona Wedding: Drunk Clown Edition
This photo definitely gives off creepy clown vibes. Out of all the weird costumes people could wear to a wedding, I think a clown costume takes the gold. Surprisingly, our creepy clown didn't plan to show up to the wedding like this. His friend (the groom) had called him and let him know that due to Corona restrictions, he was only allowed to invite 100 guests, and the clown didn't make the cut.
But then the groom added that if his friend comes dressed as a drunk clown, he would be able to attend. Fully obliging, our creepy clown threw on his costume and makeup, drank to his heart's delight at his friend's wedding, and even was able to get in some good photobombing.
Tantrum Time
"Let's take a photo!" shouts the groom. "Okay!" the bride agrees. "I'm in," says the best man. "Pose!" chimes in the maid of honor. As these happy newlyweds and their friends were getting ready to take a picture, this kid falls to the floor and starts a tantrum. Whether he was overly tired or opposed the wedding altogether, he was just over it. Wanting everybody to know, he fell to the floor and started wailing.
Between experiencing their wedding high for the first time and making sure that they and their wedding party looked picture-perfect, this crying kid was probably the last thing the happy couple needed.
You Don't Wear White To A Wedding
We always have that one guest who believes that their mission in life is to crash a wedding. For me, it was the fanatical anti-mask aunt. For this bride, it was the one and only guest who wore white. Seeming not to care, this guest has a bold look that says, "You can be pissy all you want. I'm not taking off this dress." And clearly, our newlywed is not happy.
Maybe if this bride was less traditional and wore a non-white dress, her special day wouldn't be spoiled. Sadly, her plan to be the leading lady didn't work out the way she wanted.
Cake Face Fail
Do you know that super cute moment when the couple cuts the cake together, then they each shove a piece into each other's faces? That's usually a great time to snap some photos, however, I'm sure this photographer wasn't expecting this bride's reaction. She did not enjoy that part one bit. With a face that screams, "Are you f*ing kidding me?!" it seems like she didn't know what she was getting herself into.
Hopefully, this golden moment didn't tarnish her whole night. At least she didn't get any cake on her dress. And thankfully, she had a friend by her side to help clean her up.
Accordion To This Pic, The Bride Is Not Happy
There is a lot going on in this photo. Between the posters on the wall and the mismatched table settings, this bride doesn't look like she's having a good time. Of course, the star of the picture is the man playing the accordion, which isn't something you expect to see at a wedding. From bagpipes to kazoos and more, the accordion is definitely unique. You can just tell he's belting out, "Aaaannnddd IIIII-eeee-IIII will always love youuuuu..."
Maybe the newlywed couple wanted to be original, or maybe the accordionist is that one uncle who insists on showing off his new musical talent. Whatever the case may be, hopefully our bride cheered up as the night went on.
Childless Marriage
This is exactly the kind of shenanigans you get into with your newly married husband if you don't want to have any kids. This playful couple couldn't think of a better way of telling their parents that they won't be getting any grandchildren. As the bride is getting ready to shoot her shot, the groom is ready for whatever may happen, even though we can all predict how this will end.
At least the couple is on the same page regarding family matters, and the groom is brave for agreeing to take this route as a way to prevent having children. I guess a vasectomy was too expensive.
