Mother nature is a force to be reckoned with, and every time humanity thinks they’ve gotten the better of her, she knocks them down and reminds them who is in charge. We are at the mercy of the elements and simply do our best to keep on going when they strike. We are going to show you the ways that nature makes fools of us all, keep on reading to be amazed at the top times that nature made people say, "Well, that sucks".
Volcano
If anyone has ever been caught in bad weather on their bike, they’ll know that it can be a terrible experience. Now for most of us, bad weather means rain, maybe some snow, or worst case, a little hail.
This man's experience takes the cake. While on a drive through the mountains, he had the shock of his life when a nearby volcano erupted. He lived to tell the tale and will probably think twice before taking that route again.
Tree
Imagine this, you’re settling in for the night, going through your routine, brushing your teeth, and washing your face. Then out of nowhere an eighty-foot tree crashes through your ceiling. Your life flashes before your eyes and you realize you almost got killed by a tree.
While the tree does add a certain atmosphere to the room, they probably hadn’t factored it into their decorating design. Let’s just hope that the insurance payout lets them put in a proper skylight.
Hot Day
Grab your sunscreen, it’s going to be a hot day! The teens are all out by the pool, and the kids are frying eggs on the sidewalk. Though Australia is known for its extreme climate, no one had expected it to go this far.
This family was in for the shock of their lives when they discovered that all of their patio lights had melted in the sun. Maybe it’s time to reapply that sunscreen.
Ice Storm
If someone were to tell you to come to their beach house, you’d probably show up in some flip-flops and a bathing suit. In this case, it might be better to bring your parka.
This photo shows what an ice storm can really do. You can go from a beachfront house to a Narnia ice castle in seconds. You might want to send the pizza guy to the back door, the front seems to be a little inaccessible.
Noah
I hope your name is Noah because we're going to be needing that ark right about now. The weather forecast for today? You might want to bring your umbrellas folks, it looks like rain, and when it rains, it pours.
This house owner thought he was being clever when he parked his jeep under the porch to protect it from the rain. It seems like mother nature has a sense of humor. Talk about your lakefront home.
Insulation
You might want to turn the heat up a little, this next photo will make you feel cold just by looking at it. Insulation is vital when living in a cold climate, but this building clearly could use a little more.
A frozen door is almost impossible to break through, whoever took this picture will be stuck in there for quite a while. Jack Frost has claimed this exit for himself.
Flooding
The residents of this nice little German town were in for the shock of their lives when a mudslide swallowed an entire section of the town. This lucky homeowner managed to escape the disaster, only suffering some basic flooding.
This new crater is located where a horse farm once stood... But before you worry, the owners were able to get away and save all of their horses. This disaster is no laughing matter and we hope that everyone affected overcome the challenges ahead.
Sea Level
When looking for a new place to live, you have to consider the costs and benefits of a basement apartment. Though after looking at this next photo, you may start to realize the value of an apartment above sea level.
You better hope you have insurance when this is your view out the window. Flash floods can come out of nowhere, so it’s best to be prepared for when disaster strikes.
Forest Fires
It seems like more and more forest fires are wreaking havoc on unsuspecting towns across America. Forest fires spread so quickly that cities can be made to evacuate before they even realize there’s a problem.
This family really had to put their car to test as they sped away from the forest fires that hit Oregon. They were in such high temperatures that the paint literally melted off their sedan!
Lightning
There was a reason that Zeus was considered the mightiest of all the Greek Gods...lightning, one of the scariest natural phenomena in the world. Most natural disasters are common to some particular region, but lightning is dangerous everywhere.
When this man went out this morning to check the mail, he was not expecting to find only rubble. In the rainstorm the night before, his mailbox was obliterated by a lightning strike. Better the mailbox than him!
Western
Every good western movie has a few tumbleweeds rolling by. These plants spread their seeds by uprooting themselves when they die and rolling around. Be careful with them, they can be pretty spiky.
This family will have some trouble using the front door for a while, these tumbleweeds are piled all the way to the roof. You wouldn’t want to be the homeowner fighting this problem...Next year's garden is sure to be full of weeds.
Other Plans
Have you ever had one of those days where you think to yourself “I should have just stayed in bed”? Well, this next photo may make you feel just a little better about your day.
This couple woke up at two in the morning and drove two hours uphill to see the sunrise atop Haleakala in Hawaii, but the universe had other plans. There was so much fog at the top of the mountain that they could barely see ahead of themselves. Maybe sleep was the better option.
Ice Carver
If an ice carver had been the cause of this next photo, we'd have no choice but to call this a masterpiece. But unfortunately, this is a real bus, covered in ice from wheels to roof.
Leaving your bus near the water during a Norwegian ice storm may not have been the best idea. This town will have to make do with being one bus short until it can melt down a little.
Earthquake
There is no good place to be when disaster strikes, but there are certainly some places you really would not want to be caught at. This couple was taken by surprise when an earthquake hit Japan.
In the middle of some… private time, the couple had to leave everything behind, even their pants. Now they’ll have to hold that blanket tight until it’s safe to go back to the apartment.
Devoted
This devoted girlfriend gets an A for effort. She decided to risk a forest fire to see her boyfriend on her day off, but even she couldn’t make it in this weather.
Mother nature provides many warning signs that we humans like to turn a blind eye to, but when the sky turns red, it’s time to give up, go home, and watch some Netflix. Messing with mother nature is never a good idea.
Hail Storm
Cars can take a lot of damage, but when a hail storm decided to ravage this town, it was car versus weather, and it’s hard to tell who won. This sunroof cracked nicely but it refused to break.
Hanging on for dear life, this safety glass shattered halfway into the car, collecting hail and water but not giving in. Do you think the repair shop will give them a discount if the sunroof isn’t broken?
Umbrella
Does anyone else always forget their umbrella when it's raining? You get halfway to your destination before the rain starts, and you realize that it’s sitting at home. At that point, you accept your fate and walk in the rain.
This man managed to remember to bring his umbrella, though it didn’t do him much good. Before making it to his destination, the umbrella decided to take to the skies.
England
There’s a good reason that England is so full of holidaymakers. This is a country where you can experience torrential rain, thick fog, blistering winds, and bright sunshine, all in one afternoon.
If your weather was as unpredictable as this, you'd want to escape to a tropical paradise. Only in England can the sun beat so heavily from one end while the rain pours from the other.
Five Degrees
You know that thing your mother would always tell you “be careful what you wish for’? This guy clearly never learned that lesson and wished for some “double digits” temperature.
When the temperature hit five degrees, he complained to his friends that he missed the double digits. Well, mother nature was ready to help out, dropping the temperature another five degrees to sit at a freezing negative ten. Should have specified the plus.
Upset
Sometimes the nicest days can take a turn for the worst. Weather can be unpredictable, and it's best to always be prepared. After all, you would hate for your sunny day adventure to turn into a rainy one.
This woman decided that it was time for her and her dog to go out and enjoy the sun, so they hit the open road in her exposed jeep. This poor dog is clearly upset with his mom.
Kayak
When the weather warms up to a certain point, all we want to do is get to the water. We drive to the beach with our swimsuits, sunscreen, and water wings.
These beach enthusiasts decided to strap their kayak to the truck and head to the water but failed to realize just how hot it was. While getting situated by the water, they left their kayak to bake in the sun.
Hurricane
It's hard to realize how big a tree really is until it's lying on its side. And the tree from this photo is a big one. This family was heartbroken when a hurricane leveled by their new takeout restaurant tore through the east coast.
Hopefully, their insurance will cover the cost of rebuilding and let them get a fresh start. Sometimes, the worst of the experiences can lead to a brighter future. We really hope this is the case.
Weapon
Natural disasters aren't always what we think they are. We might think that a tornado is the only windy disaster that can strike a town, but this is only the tip of the iceberg.
When the wind is blowing at over 110mph, even the most mundane items left outside can become projectile weapons. This law chair was fully implanted into this Iowa home. Let's be grateful that there were no people around when the chair went for a fly.
Aftermath
Sometimes the consequences of a storm make sense, it’s unreasonable to be mad at nature for being nature. At other times though, it can feel like Mother Nature is personally targeting us.
This next photo shows the aftermath of a rainstorm. Although all the pool chairs and the umbrella were left out, only one made it into the pool. The barbeque, however, somehow managed to fly thirty feet and land in the deep end of the pool.
Wildfire
When a wildfire ravages its way through a forest, a person would be lucky to make it out alive. This couple had to learn that the hard way, running to safety and coming home to ashes.
When something like this happens, you have to be thankful to have made it out, but there is no way to sugarcoat reality. The best we can hope for is a good insurance payout and a strong community to fall back on.
Punta Ventana
Puerto Rico is filled with good food, friendly people, and natural beauty. This country is a must-see destination. It is not to be missed between the ocean, the tropical plants, and the gorgeous rock formations.
Unfortunately, if you haven’t been to Punta Ventana yet, then you’ve missed your chance. An earthquake sadly took out this natural wonder. On the bright side, that little tree made it through the storm and is holding on for dear life.
Abnormal
This next picture goes to show how a typical day can quickly become a little more abnormal. Just imagine if you were to take a look outside your house, only to see a tornado coming down the road.
The woman taking the picture put her critical thinking skills to the test that day. She grabbed her cats and fled to the basement when the sirens went off. All are okay, and no cats were harmed.
Cleanup Nightmare
There is a confusing window between fall and winter when the weather can’t quite seem to figure out what it wants to do. The temperature can be between blissfully beachy to blistering cold.
This car owner didn’t mind that it was snowing when he parked his car. What he hadn’t noticed was the tree above! When this tree decided to drop its leaves on top of the snow, he didn’t realize it would create a cleanup nightmare.
Boathouse
At first glance, you might think that this next photo was taken in a boathouse, but if you look at those trees, you’ll see that the situation is a little bit worse. This photo is the definition of anxiety-inducing.
These homeowners have piled blankets at the bottom of the windows to stop water from coming in, but Mother Nature seems to have other plans. Let's hope that this family doesn't gain a new indoor swimming pool.
Choluteca Bridge
The same year that the new Choluteca Bridge, also known as the Bridge of Rising Sun, was built, Hurricane Mitch came along. This bridge was created to transport people over the Choluteca River.
When the storm cleared, the roads on either side had disappeared entirely. Though the bridge remained perfectly intact, it is now known as the bridge to nowhere, as the river changed course and no longer runs beneath it.
Charger
Everyone knows that smoking at the gas station is a bad idea, but here's a situation we hadn't had much reason to think about. How safe is it to mix an electric car charger with ankle-deep water?
It's probably not a good idea to find out. Finding somewhere to charge your electric car can be difficult on the best of days, but things go from hard-mode to extreme in a flash flood.
Shady Spot
When parking in double-digit weather, it only makes sense to find a nice shady spot. After all, sometimes it seems like there’s nothing worse than getting into a hot car on a hot day.
This truck owner thought he hit the motherload when he found free street parking in a shady spot. He had the surprise of his life when he came back to this picture. This jackfruit has destroyed the windshield, making this free street parking come with a big price tag.
Backpack
When the temperature starts to rise, we all tend to forget our work dress code. All you want is to be in shorts and t-shirts, but we’re stuck in long pants and dress shirts.
Without realizing how his body would react, this office worker decided to walk to the office with his backpack on. The extra layer proved to be just a bit too much for his body to handle.
Fatal Flaw
This driver made a fatal flaw in winter driving. When getting out of her car at the end of the day, she forgot to make sure the windows were fully closed.
Unfortunately for her, it snowed overnight, and this was the site she was met within the morning. You can turn the car on and crank the heat, but if you don't start to shovel, you'll only end up with a big wet mess.
Winter Cabin
One thing that you should always do when preparing your cabin for winter is to turn off the main water valve. This family learned the hard way that ignoring this advice will cause a flood and a freeze.
The bathroom has never looked cleaner, but it might take a while before they can actually use it again. But hey, at least they remembered to flush the toilet before they left!
Rockefeller Center
When this couple decided to travel overseas, they knew they wanted to make a quick stop in New York City. The best way for a tourist to see a city is to find the highest point and see it all at once.
Climbing to the top of Rockefeller Center, the couple was excited to see all of Central Park in one go. Unfortunately, the only view they found was a thick New York fog.
Act of God
All men are equal in the eyes of Mother Nature. It doesn’t matter if you drive a Honda Civic or this beautiful Lamborghini. When the hail starts, you’ll wish you had a tank, or maybe no car at all.
Most people who own a car like this would set up an excellent insurance policy and avoid paying a crazy bill for the repairs. Unless the insurance says that "this is an act of God".
California Mountains
Need something to get your mind off a nasty divorce? Well, so did this next gentleman. To get his mind off the proceedings and get away, he decided to move into his cabin up north in the California mountains.
After five miles of searching for his cabin on his snowmobile, this is the sight that greeted him. You might want to clear off some of that snow before cozying up inside.
Mysterious Ways
If you can’t quite figure out what’s going on in this photo, you wouldn’t be alone. How does a person even begin to get stuck like this? Mother Nature works in mysterious ways.
However this happened, you can be sure that this driver won't be going anywhere anytime soon. If you want to make your eight o'clock meeting, you'd better get started, it's time to pull out that hairdryer and get to work.
Beautiful Car
Have you ever seen such a beautiful car? This 2001 Honda Civic is for sale as is. If only you could see the color, condition, or interior. You might want to wait until the spring for this purchase.
When you live in a cold climate and have a garage, it's probably best if you clean out the clutter and park the car inside. A snow brush can only take you so far.
