Not everyone can get the joke on the first try. When someone has to explain it, though, it pretty much kills it. But there are also those people who not only don't get the joke, they completely miss the fact that there was a joke in the first place. Then they end up saying something embarrassing and completely ironic to the joke at hand. We've gone around and found the best moments that people embarrass themselves missing the joke. You'll come take a look, won't you?
Redbull Gives Birds Wings
We just love those memes that tell us how the world was before our favorite products were invented. Otherwise, we wouldn't have anything to laugh at, nor would we understand how the world worked.
It is indeed a slogan, but if it weren't true, wouldn't that be false advertising? If so, we should sue them for everything they own. Everybody knows that bird got their wings by drinking Red Bull.
The Martian Was Filmed On Mars
Not getting a joke is one thing...that's it. Sometimes people don't understand what it means to make people laugh. They're just in it to spoil the fun and be Captain Know It All in the process.
Wait!! Do you mean to tell us that Matt Damon wasn't the first man on Mars?! This is news to us. We were so happy to find out that he was not abandoned by the camera crew when everyone else took off...
That's Clearly A Magic 8-Ball
Sometimes you're too dumb to realize just how dumb you are. And while this post was meant to address that in a particularly humorous way, it seems to have actually drawn out the real butts of the joke.
We beg to differ. That's obviously a magic 8-ball. Don't question the powers that be. No, in all seriousness, you can't honestly expect that people will think you're smart after this blunder.
Beethoven Is Dead??
There's no shortage of these jokes on the internet and, while it might be a little bit dismissive of the devastation that the pandemic has caused, it definitely lightens up the mood a little bit.
Because we haven't been able to go anywhere due to the endless quarantines, people love to talk about what they'll do after and many people turn it into a joke with a hint of sadness backing it up. Seems this guy didn't get the memo.
WAP
If it wasn't obvious already, this is a cover to Cardi B's song "WAP" sung as if it came from medieval times. One listener took the opportunity to make a joke about it being the original song that Cardi B ripped off.
Despite the title being more than obvious to everyone and the string of comments that continues the joke, one person seemed really unappreciative of the lack of credit these jokesters were giving her.
"Googled It To Make Sure"
Nature is beautiful and full of miracles that make life possible. Most of the simple processes are quite well known to anyone who went to school, but sometimes you have to check the internet to make sure you know what you're talking about.
We're glad you Googled how reproduction in avian species works because it's pretty clear that your middle school didn't teach you this. That or you didn't pay any attention to the "when a mommy and daddy love each other very much" speech.
That's Not Clapping
Sometimes a joke flies over your head and you need someone to explain it to you, killing the joke in the process. This time, not only did it fly over their head, but they didn't even realize it was a joke at all.
We don't think this person has ever heard of a meme, but we thank them for explaining the joke to those others who have also never heard of such a thing.
Good Times
We live in an age when anyone born before the turn of the millennium would be called a boomer, even though most of the time they were born in the 90s. That being said, we pretty much grew up exactly the same, which you can see below.
We could argue, however, that it is not the same thing (yes, we know that opinion is missing the point of the joke) because video games can be educational and most parents just put whatever on from YouTube when giving them their iPad.
Prince Philip
This example is truly one for the books. Unfortunately for the late Prince Philip, his looking like he was at death's door instantly became a sensation across the internet and memed to high heaven.
Unfortunately, it seems we're dealing with yet another person who hasn't yet grasped the dankness that is meme culture. When we use a "me when" meme, it's typically not followed by your actual face.
Eating Alone
It's sad to watch people eating all by themselves. And when people take it and post it on the internet, it's even sadder. We feel for you, white t-shirt dude. If we could sit down with you, we would.
We don't see anyone either. No, that's not gonna work. Sorry for the bad joke. But, for real, this person literally defined the joke for themselves. The point is that they camouflaged themselves, duh.
Covid Expiration
Some people just can't understand that not everyone is an absolute dummy. If this person were serious, he'd likely have thought that Covid-19 would end none other than the first day of 2020.
One Reddit user managed to present the perfect follow-up to this joke: "Imagine COVID suddenly disappearing on January 1st only to make this guy look even more like an idiot." We wish it were true :').
How Big Is Texas?
Yes, if you weren't already aware, Texas is the largest state in the United States, spanning more than the whole of the world itself and it even doubles over texas. No, we're obviously just kidding.
Yes, anonymous user, this is obviously fake. Clearly, you couldn't see that Texas itself and literally every continent sans Antarctica was fit into the state of Texas. We'll give you props for being smart.
No It's January
2020 was a long year. Many people thought it would never end, and that it would just continue on forever and ever. Thinking about it, we think that this joke might have actually been repeated from last year (and likely will again this year).
This person didn't get the memo. The joke flew so far over this person's head that they even needed to include a screenshot as proof that the year did in fact change... or was that them making a joke as well?
Still Working On The Joke
There are all sorts of jokes out there: knock-knock jokes, anti-jokes, long, drawn-out jokes with a punchline at the end, you name it. This person's favorite seems to be of the "dad" variety.
It seems that they didn't understand the wording very well. Instead of looking the joke over, they quickly responded without giving it a second thought. Maybe it was the urgency of the double question marks that did it.
So Hot
The best jokes are the jokes with multiple meanings. That's exactly what's going on here when the person mentions how hot this would be and that they would literally die if a guy did this.
Literally, everything about this joke spells double entendre. It doesn't seem like the commenter understood that, though, because they don't seem to realize that this obviously would not be sexy in any way and that the post's use of the word literally is, well...literal.
Titanic's Pool
The Titanic sank. Literally, everyone knows this. It's even spawned a particularly famous movie and unlimited documentaries. We guess this guy doesn't know that this is common knowledge.
As funny as the joke is, it's also true. That's what makes it even funnier. It's too bad that this person wasn't able to get the same satisfaction that we got when we first read the joke.
Floaty Pupper
Pictures are really cool because they not only capture a moment in time but are also capable of capturing a different perspective of things that others cannot see. Take a picture and flip it upside down, and you'll end up with this:
This cute little sheebs looks like he's floating in the sky. It was the perfect opportunity to make a cute little joke about this cute little doggo, but obviously, we've got some oblivious people to ruin the fun.
It's The Same Price
It's a known fact that companies will do whatever they can to make you feel like you're paying less. In America, sales tax is only calculated at the end so you think you're spending less.
That's why this joke is so funny. Anything that's free we're ready to jump on even if it doesn't make a real difference. Still, where there's a will, there's a way, and this person just doesn't get the joke.
Red Is Not A Bloodtype
Sometimes the whole point of a joke is that the person themselves don't understand what the other person is saying to them. If you've ever watched Jujutsu Kaisen, you'd know that Yuji Itadori (pink hair) is not the brightest.
But it doesn't take an anime lover to understand that the point is that this character can be kind of dense. It's pretty obvious that he's so dense when he fails to understand two times.
Origami
This one is just joke after joke after joke...and then obviously a fool. Nobody in their right mind could make this many mistakes, especially with so many people contributing and Google existing.
It's like playing broken telephone with people. There's no way that this many people could be so ignorant about it. And does "no body got it right" also refer to the girl who asked in the first place?
More Than 7.8 Billion Views
This one is actually hilarious. With the immense popularity that baby shark got, it was quickly able to reach enough views that everyone in the world and then some could have watched it.
That's what spawned this meme, but someone on Reddit decided that it wasn't a joke but that everyone in the thread is dumb. Don't mess with Reddit users though, that one downvote will turn into hundreds overnight.
The World Goes On
This one is only understandable if you get math and remember what you learned from middle school. But when you know, you know, and one person took the opportunity to pretend they don't and made their own pun.
In an attempt to feel superior, however, another commenter decided to completely miss the second pun and call another person an idiot. Well, who's laughing now? The world goes on, indeed.
To, Too, Two
Ah, puns. Some of the cringiest jokes that people have "two" offer. They make us laugh nonetheless. It seems as though puns are the hardest jokes to get right away as proven by this person:
Not all of us here are good at catching a joke right away, but we all got this one instantly. His use of every single homophone as "too" was obvious enough. Shame on you, yellow highlight person.
Shark Triathlon
If you had to compete against a shark in a triathlon, who would win? You're faster on land, but it's faster in the water. Apparently, it all comes down to whoever is the better cyclist.
We're gonna be honest here and say that we're not sure ourselves which of these people are the ones not getting the joke, but we do know the friend who replied is probably lost amongst the sea (pun intended).
No Wifi
Parents love to do a variety of things to make their children focus on the work they need to do. One thing they do not do is inconvenience themselves by doing so. Wifi is not an option here.
Yes, how would he go into the class? Maybe the better question is why would she let him keep his phone while turning off the wifi? Any way you slice it, this was an obvious joke.
The Sun Is Off At Night
Any time we see a Shiba Inu and words captioning it in any capacity we immediately know that it's a joke. This meme is supposed to highlight how dumb some people can be.
Well, this person really thought they were smart and that whoever made the meme really is dumb. We're guessing that we're dealing with another person who has yet to join the dank cult.
[Removed]
If you know Reddit well, you'd know that when "[removed]" appears on the post, it means that something was removed by either the poster or the moderators. This person used that to his advantage.
Despite being in a subreddit for jokes, it seems this person wasn't able to catch that part. If it were actually removed, the whole post would have been gone. Joke ruined.
The Onion Strikes Again
If you've ever watched Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" you probably left the living room trying to figure out what in the world happened or what that was about. It's funny to think that Nolan himself might not understand either.
First of all, The Onion is itself a spoof new source. Anything you get from that is going to be fake. It is really entertaining, though, to see all the people who have yet to discover what The Onion is.
That's Not The Mona Lisa
Maybe the caption of this meme should have been "when you're high af and you can't realize that it's a joke". There are many things wrong with this one making it a pretty entertaining meme.
Really, that's your takeaway from this? Congratulations, you realized that this was actually Owen Wilson (who does look a lot like the "statue of Mona Lisa", huh?"). Now take a look again and tell us the name of New York's most famous landmark.
The Best Trilogy
We took a look at this one and almost thought this really was the trilogy. Upon closer inspection, you can obviously tell that they are not part of the same series, which this guy didn't seem to understand.
In the first place, none of these are trilogies (except arguably Star Wars, but that's for another time). We do want to mention that it is pretty interesting to see that these famous movies all look the same.
Avoid Gus At All Costs
If you've ever watched Breaking Bad, you'd instantly recognize the series' most ruthless antagonists. At the risk of spoiling the show, we'll leave it at that. But bear in mind, this next joke is no laughing matter.
To be fair, it would be pretty rude to waste the manager's time. He actually has more responsibilities than just listening to what we have to say. But it's pretty obvious this person didn't watch the show.
Where's The Tattoo
This next one is pretty sad, so trigger warning for anyone sensitive to daddy issues. This guy just so happened to get a tattoo of his father and it seems like the tattoo might be a bit too real.
Exactly. Where is the tattoo? That's the joke, honey. Unfortunate though it is, this joke is a pretty common one at that, so don't be fooled anytime you see one of these. And try to be respectful, too, in case it's not a joke.
Electricity Before 1752
If electricity was invented in 1752, then what did people do for their cars or other things that typically have lights? Well, this joke attempts to explain that one to the uneducated masses.
Haha, the only that's wrong here is missing the joke. We're honestly shocked to see whatever that is on someone's car. There's no way that can be legal, safe, or otherwise cheap to replace if damaged.
Radiator City
As we stated before, cameras are amazing for their ability to capture an image and give people a new perspective on things. It doesn't seem, though, like this person appreciated the attempt at humor.
You know, we think it really does look a whole lot like the city skyline. If anything, this could also be an incredible setting for a steampunk film. Hold that thought, we're gonna go round up some radiators ourselves.
Color Blind Rubik's Cube
If you are color blind, you might have difficulties solving a Rubik's cube. That is unless it's custom-made to tailor to your disability or you're able to differentiate the shades of whatever color you see.
Or you could always try to simply solve the cube without any help. The person in the comments doesn't seem to get that being colorblind would make it pretty hard to solve the cube without memorizing the sides beforehand.
Um, Actually...
There is always going to be a proper way to do things. The best way to roll off a boat when scuba diving, for example, is to roll backwards off the boat. Why? Take a look for yourself.
Wow, we are sure glad someone took the time to explain that to us. Otherwise, we might have really thought that rolling forwards is simply bad in general. Maybe next time you can explain the reason people make jokes.
Time Flies
Time sure flies when you're having fun. Just ask Eminem and his crew from wayyyy back when. Nowadays he's looking kinda old, but we think he's still got a fire within him. It's good to see they're all doing well now.
Those may not be the same people in the top and bottom picture, but they very well could have been. But you're right, that is the pope on the bottom and Eminem is obviously not that old today. Obviously, those 9 likes agree with you on this one.
Slept With A Patient
Sleeping with a patient is the wrong thing to do, but what if your patients aren't human, and what if you're not actually trying to woo them into doing anything naughty? Apparently, that's still a problem.
We assume they got fired for extensive cuddling. Or maybe they were an abusive petter. They just wanted to sleep with another dog for gosh sakes! It's a joke, people!! In case you weren't sure, a vet is an animal doctor.
Van Clutch, Van Stop, Van Reverse, Van Brake, Van Who?
Maybe you don't have a car, but that's hardly an excuse to not understand what makes the car move or stop. There's a pedal for the brakes, a pedal for the gas, and a pedal... to reverse?
No. The clutch is used in manual cars and is used to switch gears. It is not the gas they are referring to. And the "stop" pedal is obviously the brakes. Why don't people know who Van Gogh is? You don't even have to know what he looks like to catch the pun.
Close The Hospitals
Wordplay can be a wonderfully successful way to build up a joke. But if you aren't good at deciphering their code you might have trouble understanding the art of a funny joke.
Obviously, if we close the hospitals people would stop dying. Jeez, it doesn't take a genius to understand that the amount of people dying in hospitals is because they are inside the hospital. Jk.
Color Blind Chart
Have you ever tried to ask a color blind person what color they see? It's probably the most common thing for people to ask the first time they meet someone like that.
This is maybe the most obvious joke on this list. What is with people and not understanding jokes about color blindness? It's like they can't associate seeing color and the word blind in any capacity.
Black Hole
There are all sorts of things we say to our pets when they do really cute things. This guy saw his black cat curled up into a ball and due to his fur color decided to attribute what he's seeing to what it reminds him of.
This is obviously a cat but you wouldn't hear any of us tell them that. It's a cute cat picture. We would just admire the black hole that this cat is. After all, it's really drawing us in!
That's Obviously A Dog
Sometimes friends do the most when they make a gift. We're not sure if it was the company sending this who did it or the girlfriend herself, but either way, it's a pretty funny way to present a gift.
Because of how obvious it is the guy took the opportunity to pretend to be surprised by the gift and played dumb for his girlfriend. Apparently, the commenter didn't get the memo because he spoiled the surprise for him.
Where's Her Mask?
At this point, it's become clearly mandatory to wear masks at all times when you go into a store. If you aren't a Karen, you probably already get it. The woman who made this joke obviously does.
Another camouflage joke successfully executed! Although this time someone decided this was their opportunity to rant at a woman who supposedly didn't know she needed a mask. Well, it seems the joke worked because this person clearly can't see the mask on her face.
On Sale
Don't you hate it when the store has a sale on something but they put the sign in the wrong spot? How much does the other item cost, then? And also why are they compelled to put them in the wrong boxes?
Everyone decided to turn it into a joke because none of the things in this picture match up. Someone wasn't having it and called them blind, but that's a pot calling the kettle black because they clearly can't see everything that's happening in the picture.
America's Fault
When something bad happens in the world, you can rest assured it's probably America's fault. That's a joke, of course, but it sure seems that way sometimes, doesn't it?
This is pretty much equivalent to when someone says "me, myself, and I" except using all the words associated with the USA. Someone needs to tell this person that Canadians don't call themselves American.
Asians Can Be American?
Sometimes people can be pretty racist. While terrible in general, their embarrassment from the exchange can be pretty satisfying to witness. Kind of like karma hitting them where it hurts most.
Not only is the joke funny, but this person's reaction is also gold. The person forgot that what it means to be American is not necessarily what they look like or where they originally came from. It's the same for many other countries as well.
Na Bruh
Many people underestimate the intelligence level of other people. Some, however, underestimate their own levels of intelligence. Just take a look at this hilarious wordplay pun:
The commenter was really hoping he could represent those people who are underestimated by the public. What they failed to understand was that he was disproving his own point and inadvertently making this joke real.
Shazam
This one is a little awkward because it doesn't exactly point out what the joke is supposed to be. The real point of the message was to highlight the stupid decision that Doom Paul made to get himself a copyright strike to find out a song title.
Too many people seemed to not get the point and went on to point out how bad the joke was. It is pretty funny, though, so it's a shame that they weren't able to enjoy it for themselves.
How To Fit More Tennis Balls
This is something you're likely to see on a life hack video. One of the ones that show pointless hacks that don't actually make any sense, yet seem to get hundreds of thousands of views regardless.
Obviously, this was meant to be a joke, but some people just don't find humor in these sorts of things. It was meant to point out the laziness of developers to solve their problems, but they thought it was just plain stupid.
