You may think money can buy everything, but that's just false. You can buy whatever luxury or designer fashion item, but that doesn't mean that you'll know how to put it together. Long story short, high-end brands don't always make beautiful things and just because their label is on there doesn't mean it'll look good, especially if you don't know what you're doing. We collected a bunch of pictures of items and people wearing specific items that just goes to show that money can buy a lot of things, but it just can't buy taste. Keep reading to learn more...
These Sneaker Heels
As far as shoes go, these would not be so bad if executed more properly. But we have to face the facts: these are literally basketball sneakers stretched out into a heel-like format. Speaking of heels, it's got two! We never really understood the desire to have a pair of heels that resemble gym shoes, but we aren't expecting to see any that are very classy anytime soon.
On the bright side, the colors aren't so bad. In fact, we think these might actually have a home in some futuristic movie of some sort. Good luck to whoever's wearing them out regularly.
This Blue Camo Car
There are just so many things wrong with this car. Let's talk about that camo first. It's blue, yet this car is from Texas. Even if they aren't using the camo to actually camouflage their car, we need to point out that there is nothing blue but the sky in Texas (unless you're in that small portion along the sea, like Houston). And then there are those spokes. We can't imagine those being helpful at this drive-thru.
Oh and let's not forget that shark decal. All in all, this is just one mistake after another. Whoever is driving this thing better be happy with it because there's no backing out (for cheap).
A Luxury Truck
Okay, before we talk about how tacky this is, we do have to commend the creator of this monstrosity for their attempt at something innovative. Maybe if it weren't attached to the head of a truck it would be really cool, so we say the concept is great with terrible execution. Now that that's out of the way, what the actual heck did they turn a truck into a luxury vehicle for??
Like, that truck pulls us straight out of the immersion. This could actually look super cool and futuristic, but, instead, it's just a luxury truck. Almost had it, you guys.
A Concrete Fortress
Now it's time to talk about this concrete castle. For a mere 850,000 dollars, you can have this and everything around it. But pay close attention to the fact that it's also a bit unrenovated. Clearly, you're going to have to spend quite a bit more on this thing if you want it to be any nicer than it already is, which isn't saying much. It's really just a square with castle roof trimmings.
The bridge isn't even nice. It looks way too big for the entrance and it really feels like it doesn't need to be the top floor. Whoever designed this thing needs to find a different passion.
This Handmade Necklace
Arts and crafts are a great idea for the kids. If you're going to make jewelry it can be a great way to boost their self-esteem by wearing what they made while also having a lot of fun in the process. It seems like Martha Calvo really wanted to bank on this idea because their artisan crafters are making these stunning pieces by hand. No two necklaces are exactly alike!
Okay, but those are literally beads that you can find at your local Michael's art supply store. Why in the world do they have the audacity to be selling these things at $125??
Some Sort Of Chair
If there's one thing we've learned while looking at furniture, it's that there are a whole bunch of ways that a company can turn what is supposed to be really nice and comfy into an artistic disaster. Take this piece for example. It's literally a red velvet diner booth-like chair, which might almost look nice (if not for the plastic lego brick-like armrests) but then they put it on silver legs with skis.
Altogether, it's a pretty tacky piece of furniture. As comfy as the cushioning looks, we're really hoping that nobody actually went and bought this, even for decorative purposes.
BMW Furniture
Speaking of tacky furniture, here's another company that took something that should be nice and turned it into a whole advertising campaign of shame. As nice as BMW is, do you really need to purchase their set of chairs and a table for your dining room? Well, judging by the other things they have in that room, we'd say that this was a necessity for whoever purchased it.
Let's also talk about how uncomfortable it looks. Everything is just so stiff that we don't even think this was a worthwhile purchase. RIP those people's backs.
A Tea Set
Okay, this isn't only bad taste, but it has got to be one of the creepiest sets of teaware that we have ever seen. Somebody actually went out and purchased a whole bunch of teacups and teapots on hands complete with plates and a sugar pot. We'd almost say that this belongs in "Alice in Wonderland", but even that would be doing this set justice. Please crawl back to the cave you came out from.
Would you ever consider buying something like this? It might be nice in some sort of creepy-themed party, but for something so specific as that we can't justify this buy.
Balenciaga X Crocs Part 1
So, these are some of the weirdest shoes we've ever seen. If you thought the last pair of shoes were weird, then you have to see these. They are, quite literally, a collaboration between Crocs and their hard rubber...shoes? Clogs? What do you even call them? Anyways, a collab between Crocs and Balenciaga. Yes, that Balenciaga, the designer clothing company.
As tacky as crocs are, they actually have their uses. These, on the other hand, purposely try to take tacky and reform that meaning. We feel bad for Elliot Page who willingly decided to wear these shoes.
Balenciaga X Crocs Part 2
But wait, that wasn't the end of it. As if Balenciaga hadn't had enough with the shoes they had created once before, they decided another collaboration with Crocs was in order. And this time, instead of making gothic platform shoes, they decided, instead, to create a heel for those women who want to be classy while wearing their crocs. And let's just say, they are exactly what they sound like.
Just a big ol' Croc on a heel. It is not nearly as ugly as the last pair of shoes we showed you, but they certainly hit that "nope" note.
An Outdoorsy Indoor Tub
Someone really wanted to have a bit of nature inside their house, so they brought it to the most plausible place: the bathroom. While we do admit that it might be cool to make a bathtub out of wood, we also have to say that it doesn't seem to have nearly enough polish on it to make us feel like it will be safe under the water. That, and the glaring mistake that is the flooring.
We get that it's supposed to look like grass, but at the end of the day, it's just carpeting. That and it literally looks like someone vomited all over their floor.
A Guitarcycle
When you think of rock 'n' roll, you might also eventually associate it with motorcycle gangs and the like. Maybe that's a bit more in the genre of metal, but you get our point. It seems, though, that someone really wanted to "drive" those two points home. And so, in turn, they went ahead and purchased themselves something that they probably won't ever regret but looks a bit ridiculous.
On the bright side, it looks pretty slick. It definitely has a lot of love and cares put into it, but it's certainly not something you'll ever see us driving around.
Chiara Ferragni's Choice Of Footwear
For those of you who don't know her, this is Chiara Ferragni. She is an Italian blogger, as well as a businesswoman, fashion designer, and model. To some, she's most well known for taking the most "taboo" fashion combinations and turning them into a trend. However, that doesn't always mean that she actually looks good doing it, but people start following in her footsteps (pun intended) because of who she is. Here is her with some white socks and sandals:
True, you can argue that those are slides, so it's different, but is it really? Well, when you're wearing a pair of expensive Yeezy EVA foam slides then, apparently, it is.
Chiara Ferragni's Style
But this isn't her only instance of doing so. She actually does this fairly regularly, and they typically don't go with her outfit. In this next picture, you can probably make the argument that she's in an airport so she isn't trying very hard. To this, we say she is a fashion designer and is probably always trying to look good. That and the fact that she took and posted a picture says what she thinks about her outfit.
Maybe she doesn't care about the way she looked that day, but wouldn't that be bad for her reputation? Even still, the point is this is lacking taste and we think it shows.
Kanye West's Wedding Attire
She's not the only one who has had a slip-up (or should we say slipper up?) with some slides. At 2 Chainz's wedding, Kanye West decided to go with some pretty disagreeable footwear. He wore a pair of $150 Yeezys that were not that stylish in general and they barely fit his feet. Not only that, but he was also rocking those white socks as well. Pretty weird stuff.
We're not quite sure what led him to wear these to the wedding. Maybe it was to advertise them a little? They certainly aren't wedding material so we think this says something.
The Trump's Home
Next up are the Trumps! At this family photo, there were a lot of things we got to see from them. The first thing we want to mention is the way they pose for a family picture. The lion isn't exactly weird, but to pose their son on it with a bunch of toys seems a bit odd. But then it's their apartment that really starts to catch the eye.
Everything is this goldish color and everything is staged so perfectly. It also looks like they live in a museum or castle. Does it really have to be that obvious that he has money? Maybe they could put it to better use...
These Things
Okay, it's one thing to have a hood ornament on your car. They are usually a symbol of wealth as only the most luxurious of cars seem to have them. Of course, you can probably get one installed, but what's the point? Well, someone decided that it wasn't enough to have it in their car, but decided that another appropriate place to have them would be their blue snakeskin shoes.
We were already questioning the choice of shoes but decided to leave that aside after seeing what they had adorned the shoes with. This is probably one of the tackiest and most expensive choices we've seen yet.
A Famous Doctor's Home
Next up we have whatever this is. Someone thought that a nice treat for their dining room would consist of weird animal statues and a wall of guns. "Who in the world could this be?" you might ask. Well, we'd be delighted to inform you that this house belonged to none other than Dr. Phil! He also shared it with his son, but that's beside the point.
What is the point is that money doesn't seem to equal taste for Dr. Phil either. What is interesting, though, is the fact that he's out there trying to help people but lived in a house that had a wall of guns. Sketchy.
This Tokyo District
This is a modern image of the district of Tokyo known as Jiyugaoka. It is known for its elegant shopping centers and the wealthy people that shop there. Yet, despite all the high-end shopping and the pride that Japan has on their knack for style, it's interesting that the buildings here--which are designed with the intention of being inviting for passersby--aren't exactly all that eye-catching.
You would think that a ritzy shopping district, especially in Japan, would actually look the part. We guess you can't have your cake and eat it too all the time, eh?
Kim Petras At The Met Gala
You may not be familiar with Kim Petras, but she's a German singer-songwriter who's based out of LA. Well, this is what she wore at the Met Gala and it definitely says something about her sense of style. While the Met Gala is definitely the place that you want to show off with a crazy, eye-catching, and poppy outfit, we all have to agree that this one is something else entirely.
We're not quite sure when a horse head became the next piece of high-end fashion. Avante Garde, maybe, but we're definitely not seeing any real couture here.
Kim Kardashian At The Met Gala
This one is a bit of a hot topic. While many of you can definitely call this tasteful, we don't really share the same opinion. The theme for this year's gala was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion". Many fans didn't understand what this outfit had to do with the assignment and neither did we. She made a post on her Instagram explaining: "What’s more American than a T-shirt head to toe?".
And so here we are with her t-shirt dress. It really doesn't seem to have any meaning at all more than that and that's a shame. This could have been the perfect opportunity for a political statement, but we guess we were hoping for too much.
Another Met Gala Outfit
We want you to guess who we're talking about this time. If you guessed Rihanna, then you would be wrong. We actually quite like her outfit. IT's what A$AP Rocky decided to come in. There is no way you can convince us that that is more than just a blanket. It doesn't matter who designed it, that is definitely something we can find at a Bed Bath & Beyond.
Sorry, not sorry. And you know what? We don't think many of you will disagree with this one. It must have cost a whole lot of money yet we feel like we could make one of these ourselves at home.
An Indian House
Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India, built this 27-story home for himself and his four family members. It requires 24-hour maintenance with a staff of over 600 people. You would think, though, that being the richest man in India would mean building for yourself a house that isn't as bombastic and ugly as this. Someone once mentioned that it looked like a house a kid built with LEGO bricks and we are inclined to agree.
Still, we do have to admire the work that went into this. The fact that it can be so big and still be considered a house is incredible. WE just want to know what they do with all that extra space.
This Random Woman
We don't think we need to explain however so tasteless this one is. We hate to judge but just look at that. It looks like this woman forgot how old she was. And it's not so bad to dress younger than you actually are but... Well, this woman is wearing what can only be described as a child's tutu and a tank top. Not to mention the giant belt adorning the whole thing.
The extensive work that was done on her chest cannot save her from this. Maybe if she proportioned herself more on her arms and legs, but that is probably unlikely to happen.
This Collection Of Cars
Apparently, a Saudi Shiek in London is the owner of these cars. This selection of supercars is all plated in 24 karat gold, which means it is all pure. Not only do we not see the point in owning all of these cars, but the fact that they are all plated in solid gold is something else entirely. We can maybe understand a car collector owning the cars, but this is a bit of a stretch.
Does he even drive all of these? There's no way that he is using them to their full potential. Though maybe he has a driving compound somewhere. Something tells us, though, that they mostly sit around.
This Mercedes Car
This Mercedes SLR is about as tacky as the women's clothes standing in front of it. That being said, anybody driving this car would have to be crazy stupid rich to afford it. It's a whopping $10 million and we're not surprised by that. Everything is covered in gold. From the trims to the headlights to the steering wheel and even most of the inner portion of the car.
While it may seem ugly, the thought of it is truly dazzling. It really is a car for the rich, but we're not sure it would actually be safe to drive that thing around if you're going to park.
The Paris Hilton Dog Mansion
You'd think that Paris Hilton, one of the best-dressed people out there, could put a little more pizazz into a mansion that she made for her dogs. Yes, that's right, she made a mini-mansion for her dogs and it looks terrible. It's supposed to be a scale model of the Hilton home, but if that's the case we really hope that it's decorated by someone else.
The furniture is a mismatch of things (especially that dollhouse closet next to the Victorian style couch) and the color of the wall is just too much. Thank goodness dogs are colorblind.
This Blue Hummer
Hummers are already bad enough. They're gigantic gas-guzzling monster trucks that are terrible for the environment and just seem totally unnecessary. But at least their original color isn't so bad. This sky blue hummer, owned by former New York Yankees player Alfonso Soriano, just seems a little bit distasteful. It could be worse, but it could be much, much better. Maybe if it had a different colored trim it would be okay.
We're not sure why people are so inclined to buy things that don't serve a good purpose. But when you have money, you got to flaunt it, apparently.
A Gold Shirt
If you like this shirt that millionaire Pankaj Parakh bought himself for his birthday, then you better be ready to dish out 127,000 pounds. That's equivalent to about 172,926.63 dollars by today's conversion, and that's not including inflation. It took 20 craftsmen to craft this shirt and 3,200 hours of their time to make it out of 18-22 karat gold. It also weighs almost 9 pounds. True insanity.
Maybe it would be alright if we ignored the price, but the pattern of the shirt leaves something to be desired. It kind of looks like corduroy and we're not for it.
A Basketball Player's Necklace Of Himself
Former Boston Celtics player Marquis Daniels once commissioned someone to make him a necklace. What he chose for him to do was to make a necklace of Daniels' face and, while it looks a bit like him, we think it kind of misses the mark. It's made out of porcelain for the eyes, black diamond chains for the hair, and some other sort of bedazzling for the rest of the face.
We're not sure why anyone would want a necklace of themselves. It seems a bit narcissistic in our opinion, but what does one do with copious amounts of money? Probably not this.
A Gold iPhone 6
While this is probably very out of date, you were, at some point, able to purchase a $7,300 iPhone 6 from Ademov. But that's probably the biggest drawback: what do you do when your phone is completely outdated? The phone is covered in 24-karat gold, and if that wasn't enough for you, the Apple logo is studded with diamonds. Any drops would just dent the thing. Gold is such a soft metal and there's no way you're going to be hiding it under a case.
There's no way you're getting rid of this thing. Even if someone was willing to buy it from you, there's no guarantee they'd still want it after considering the act that they can't transfer the perks to a new phone.
Moynat Bicycle and Trunk
If you were looking for a nice bicycle, then look no further than the Moynat Bicycle and Trunk. It'll only set you back a measly $32,000! But here's the thing: it's literally just a normal bike with a trunk that carries a couple of cups, plates, and some silverware for you. If you were looking to have a picnic, this would surely be the best bike to go out with.
The thing is, though, you can just get a normal bike and get a basket. They cost hundreds of times less and will look just as nice as this thing.
A Rocking Chair
This rocking chair elephant was made by British luxury goods maker Asprey. While this Rocking chair isn't exactly the ugliest, we think that the price might just be. IT retails for $100,000 dollars. It is made from American white oak, "stained in rich paints", and covered with gold leaf. If you aren't sure about the price, it does start to make a little more sense when you hear that it is one of a kind.
And it better be. This thing is more expensive than most people's yearly income. But if you're the one who bought this, then clearly you have other priorites than what your yearly salary is.
A Piggy Bank
And this piggy bank from Asprey will set you back a whopping $70,000. According to the description, it is "Expertly designed by Julian Cross and handcrafted from sterling silver in one of Asprey's centuries-old New Bond Street workshops, this treasure will be a prized family heirloom for many generations to come". Yes, we do think it'll become a family heirloom, so long as the person who owns it doesn't have to scrape up every penny and then sell the darn thing.
On the bright side, it is made of sterling silver which makes the gleam of it awfully pretty. Unfortunately, the flower pattern on top makes us feel icky just looking at it.
This Prada Camouflage Saffiano Tote
This has got to be one of the ugliest purses we have ever seen. The camo is a bad choice and so is the price. It retails for $2495. At that price, you'd think you could design it with a little more flair. Like, the ironic thing is that when you get a Prada bag you want to show it off, but they made it a color that's literally meant to help hide things.
But if you can see it, you probably wouldn't even realize that it's a Prada tote. The only thing giving that away is the little brand label on it.
