Having pets keeps can keep you entertained for days. They are always up to something mischievous and it's those moments that make us jump off our seats to take a look. Pets also seem to have their own personalities and it’s often those with the more intense personalities that we keep a closer eye on. But with big personalities come big problems and sometimes scolding, which leaves the pets looking for not-so-great hiding places. These few pets we’re going to see were pictured doing just that, hiding in places that make them think they’re ninjas, but they’re just being goofballs.
Simba
When this kitten, Simba, was told he was going to be playing hide and seek with his siblings, he misunderstood the command and heard “hide and sleep” instead. Kittens do this often, when they play all day, exerting themselves with feathers and balls, and then just find the nearest piece of furniture to rest their heads on for a little while, which lands up turning into a full-blown nap session.
Although it does look like Simba was just playing a game of “if you can’t see me I can’t see you” he was truly just taking advantage of the corner to rest in.
Lola
Usually, when people bring younger dogs into the house with older dogs, those dogs tend to get fed up with the amount of energy the puppies have and back away. Just like this labrador, Lola has done, except we do not think she understands that she can still be seen. Lola gets tired of long playtime periods with the family's other dog, so she usually tries to hide from it.
We think she must have thought this clothing drying rack was like a cage, so standing behind it would make the other dog think she is locked up behind it and would leave her alone.
Peek-A-Boo
Pet birds are way more entertaining than people may think. They are always up to strange things that never make sense. This cockatiel most likely got out of his cage and tried to play a game of peek-a-boo to distract his owners from his escape. But in doing so it made him look like he was acting like a lady in a clothing store changing room asking the assistant for a different size.
It is quite common for cockatiels to play hiding games with their owners, but they are almost always really bad at it. They think they can’t be seen if they can’t see their owners.
On a Hunt
It is not often you will find a pet cat trying to camouflage while trying to hunt, but if you do happen to see it, it will most likely be used for internet entertainment, just like this cat. She has found the best spot to watch birds, right through a perfectly placed glass window. But of course, it would be better to hide in the curtains just in case the birds catch her out.
By doing so, she has left herself looking like a beautiful cat with a head wrap on, just like some moms look when preparing a big dinner. Seems fitting though.
Dandelions
David Attenborough would get a good kick out of this white cat chilling in a field of dandelions. It would be a scene of beautiful flowers and a cat trying to blend into what it thinks is its natural habitat. This white feline chose quite a good place to hide though because from the top you’d only see these two white pointy ears which would blend in well with the white fluff from the dandelions.
Let's just hope this cat does not have to sneeze because then his stealth mode would be completely ruined after making those white fuzzes drift away into the air around him.
Bushes
This beautiful dog really did try its best to hide in the bushes, although we still can not figure out how it has done it, but it has. It does seem to have a slightly guilty look on its face, so either it is trying to hide because it has done something it wasn’t supposed to or it knows that it should not be in those bushes in the first place.
Besides this dog hiding in the bushes, it would actually make quite the feature to have at the front door. We bet the owner left it there to scare off unwanted guests.
I Am Not Here
Some may not know this, but having a bunny as a pet can really be something special. They are unusual pets to have, but if you get the right one, they will cuddle with you, come when you call them, and even go outside to do their business. This bunny, unfortunately, misjudged his size when playing hide and seek though. His bunny bum was just too large to fit behind the fan stand.
Its owner should just let it be though because you wouldn’t want to give the bunny a complex around its weight just because it is bad a playing hide and seek.
Love-Hate Relationship
The love-hate relationships dogs and cats have will always leave cats and sometimes dogs too, looking for places to hide away from each other. What this cat did not realize was that those patterned net curtains work both ways and you can see just as well in as you can out when you are behind them, and we think the cat had just realized that when this picture was taken.
This cat will be no match for the big German Shepard, so the best thing for it to do is to hide away. But it may want to think of a better place next time.
Big Dane
Being a Great Dane must be tough because they are such large dogs that don’t realize their size at all. This Great Dane needed to hide away after being scolded. They are actually really sweet dogs and never understand why they get into trouble for doing things. This dog unfortunately did not choose the best spot to hide away, however, at least he could look back to make sure there wasn’t another scold coming.
Pets will have to one day realize that they can not use curtains to hide away behind, especially if they are really big pets and the curtains are basically seethrough.
Attack Mode
Anyone that has had cats know exactly what these eyes mean, pain is coming your way and most likely around your foot area. This ginger ninja cat seems really good at what he does and if the owners ever need to look for him, they will know that he is most likely scheming an attack on the stairs. He is just about ready to pounce on anything that will be moving toward him.
These stairs are actually a great spot for this cat to goof around. If it wasn’t for his white face, he would blend in perfectly are would be able to pounce like a real ninja.
The Ball
There are very few things that can keep a dog and its ball apart, and that is exactly why this dog is hiding in the bushes, to guard his ball. Although not a the greeted job of hiding, from a distance his owners would barely be able to make out that it was him. The ball mostly gives it away though as its redness stands out like a sore thumb.
This is not this dog's first rodeo when it comes to hiding, because this is his favorite spot to hide when needed. If he gets a green ball, he would most likely never be found.
Find Me
Here we go again, with these cats and dogs and the net curtains. If cats and dogs just got along, they would not have to try and hide from each other, and net curtains would just be there for the windows. We do not understand how cats do not realize that if they can see the dog through the curtain then the dog must be able to see them too.
What happens in these situations is that when the dog spots the cat, it will go for it and the cat will retaliate and the net curtain is damaged in the crossfire.
Camera Shy
One thing most cats love is being left alone. That is why you will usually find them hiding in the most unusual places and then be miserable when you find them. This lady's cat thought that the inside of a brown paper shopping bag would be the best place to hide, and why not? He’s a similar color to the bag and only all his limbs and tail are sticking out, who would ever notice?
The best part is that this cat genuinely thinks his owner does not know where he is, he has hit the jackpot with his hiding spot. Which will be ruined once mom lifts it up.
Photogenic
This photo was taken by a shelter photographer who goes into shelters to take pictures of animals for their portfolios in the hopes that will get them adopted. However, this cat was not having any of it as she did not appreciate the camera. So instead of running away, she hid inside some pillow fluff and without realizing it, put herself in the position for a really cute photo for her portfolio.
We are sure this got her adopted real fast, but the shelter should’ve added a disclaimer to let people know that she does not appreciate cameras, but loves huddling inside of pillow fluff.
No Vet for Me
To be honest, we had to look twice before noticing there was a black cat hiding there, so for starters, it was a pretty good hiding spot for this one. The picture of the dog gets noticed first which the cat must’ve known would deviate the vet away from him. We know most pets hate the vet and they know exactly what is about to happen when they get there.
But as long as she knows the vet cannot see her hiding away, she would feel a lot safer benign inside the vet's room. Too bad there aren’t better-hiding spaces than that one.
The Timing
This counts for one of those perfect timing photos that people rarely get of their pets, but when they do, it's golden. Hiding inside this full cat food bag has many benefits for this cat. Firstly, he is in disguise because of the cat that looks similar to him on the packaging and secondly, he gets to eat some food while in hiding. What a winning situation for this one.
This cat was definitely breaking into this bag of cat food rather than trying to hide away, but his ninja form would have made his owners look twice before realizing what was going on.
Ninja Nose
Of all the ninja pet moves we have seen so far, this dog takes the cake by far. One of the best hiding spaces in the world and if a dog is the right size to fit in, it has hit the hiding spot jackpot. This dog found the perfect hiding spot by slipping into the sofa and making himself comfortable on the side part of the chair, which is most likely quite open.
If it was not for the fact he needed to breathe, then this dog would have gotten away with it. With 98% of his body in hiding, we’d say this is pretty good going.
If It Fits It Sits
Cats love their small confined spaces, usually in a box shape, and for some reason being inside of them makes them feel safe. But with only one sink in the vet's room, these two cats had to make it work for both of them to fit inside as this was their only hiding spot. It was a tight squeeze for the two of them, but when at the vet, hiding spots are vital.
Little do these cats know that there is a tap above them that can spray water and well, we all know how much cats just “love” water. Best they find a new spot.
Ninja Nose Part Two
We thought the dog on the sofa was the winner of hiding spots, but now this dog takes the lead. It took us a while to find where the hidden pet was, but with a few looks, there he was, perfectly hidden under the bed. The stuff on top of the bed and the cleaning lines on the carpet make us think this dog was hiding from the vacuum noise.
Under the bed is a pretty safe space for a dog to hide because unless you lift it up, it can be quite difficult to get the dog out before he gets out himself.
Safe Space
Usually, when abandoned cats or kittens are found, they look for a space that they feel safe in, and for this little black kitten, his safe space was in between this girl's wavy hair. It does seem like an unusual space to try to hide in or find comfort in, but we guess that only this little guy knows why her hair was the best spot for him to be.
He does sort of blend in quite nicely in her hair and it's probably nice and warm too. The soft hair feel must remind him of his mom's soft fur.
Stealth Blanket
We have seen the cats hiding from dogs, but we have not yet seen dogs hiding from cats, until now. You can tell by the cat's face that he does not like the dog being in his space and that's why this dog just stayed under the blanket when he stood up. But let's face it, this dog does a way better disguising job than the previous cats we have seen.
We would love to know what kind of dog was stealthily hiding underneath the beige blanket. His cover-up is so good we can not even try and guess the breed.
On the Lookout
The perfect hiding space for cats would look something like this one. A box-shaped container, space to stretch their legs out, perfectly places eye holes to keep a lookout for the dog and space at the back to fluff their tail out. The only problem is, that it does not completely hide their bodies as much as we think it should. But this cat seemed to think it was perfect.
When cats hide like this, it just gives their owners something to laugh at because they can not understand how their cats have figured out these weird and wonderful hiding spots.
The Spot
This cat has got it all figured out. The right spot to hide from the dog, but still safe enough for its owners to know where it is. It was either on the bed before the covers were thrown over or it snuck into the made bed to nap in peace and quiet leaving a cat-shaped bulge on the bed. Its owners should just tap it now and then to make sure it's still meowing.
Apparently, there are a few cats that do this as it keeps them safe and protects their ears from strange noises that just annoy them. So strange, but so clever.
Invisible
Another terrible hiding spot that makes this dog think his owners can not see him. When it is time to leave the dog park, this big pup always tries to hide away so that he does not have to leave and on this day, the sign pole was his hiding spot. His hiding away is a lot better than throwing a doggy tantrum though because those are hard to control sometimes.
Dogs have the most amazing personalities and when human-like actions come through in them, it can be really entertaining. Just like this dog trying his best to not be seen.
Tank
This cat, Tank, has left his owners searching for him often, only they are never able to find where he is hiding. Until the day this photo was taken. While they were watching TV a bird chirped on the TV show and this little head popped out above the TV cabinet, and bingo, Tank, and his hiding spot were found. What a brilliant spot this cat has found to be left alone in.
We wouldn’t so much as to say it's a ninja move for Tank, but more like an absolute stroke of genius. No one can reach him but they can still see he is there.
Fluffy
This white cat hiding in the blinds would have gotten away with this hiding place if he had not been so fluffy. He was hiding there so that his owner could not get to him to clip his nails, which as we know, all cats hate having done. But unfortunately, the blind openings and his fluffy fur gave it all away and he had to get his nails clipped anyways.
At least his fur helped a little with cleaning some dust off in between the blinds. But that still was not good enough for him to get out of a nail-clipping session.
Confused
This picture is a great representation of how clear things can confuse kittens. When they are young, they have to go through a few situations to learn that they cannot get through some clear objects although they can see what is inside. This with kitten loves to hide away from her brother in this jar, but her brother doesn’t understand how he can see her, but the jar stops him from playing with her.
This tactic is great while they are kittens, but it may be a bit of an issue if she tries the same thing when she is older and a lot bigger.
Hiiii
This is what you get when you mix up hide and seek with peek-a-boo. Another dog who has discovered the inside of sofas, not only to hide in it but also to play a fun game of spot my head. This dog looks like he is having fun with whatever he thinks he’s doing, just as long as he knows it may be more difficult getting back out than it was to get in.
These sofas that dogs crawl into must be made in a unique way. Perhaps humans should try hiding in their sofas. If their dogs can fit, surely they can too.
Vet Phobia
The infamous vet's room hiding spot has been found by this white cat as well. At least he isn’t sharing it with another cat like the one before. These poor cats that hide in vets' rooms must really be traumatized to have to lie in a sink while knowing that they can still be seen and if this is a common thing, which it seems like it is, then perhaps vets should cover their sinks.
This cat's poor eyes are pierced on the camera, most likely held by his owner. It is almost like a cry for help that this cat is reaching out for.
Must Find Treats
This beautiful white dog is not searching for treats under the fridge, no. You see, this is what it looks like when a dog throws a tantrum and tries to hide because he was shouted at for barking in the apartment building he lives in. But the nose under the fridge is not the best hiding place for his size and this is most likely just him acting out with some sass.
We find it really funny when dogs throw tantrums and then do things out of spite. But hiding the tip of your nose under a fridge is just something else.
Sulk Mode
If this cat could learn anything from the other cats we have seen who are visiting at the vet, it would be that the sink is probably a better hiding place than the corner next to the sink. This cat really did not want to be seen by the vet but left himself in the perfect position to make it a lot easier for the vet to pick him up again.
It does however look more like this cat is in a sulking position rather than hiding away. Perhaps he feels if he sulks long enough, his owner will just take him home.
Seal Pup
Imagine walking into our bathroom to find what looks like a seal pup waddling around. It was a fantastic disguise for his dog, but he was definitely being a goofball. This pup got himself all shoveled into a hooded sweatshirt, but the arm was not big enough for his whole face, so just the nose made it out into the open, making it a good way for him to be incognito.
The best part is that if he wants to stay disguised but also take a nap, he would have the perfect little spot to be cozy and warm while still not really being seen.
Cat Manual
Well, it looks like this fluffy white dog took a page out of the cat hiding spot manual and tried out the “hide behind the net curtain trick”. It obviously did not quite work but he looks pretty happy with himself and with the decision he has made. He also does not look too guilty or scared, so we wonder why he would be hiding there in the first place.
These pets never disappoint in amusing people, and this dog and his happy face goes along with that. As long as he is happy where he is, we say, leave him.
Hashbrown
The dog on the left looks like she is a tattletale who has just given away where her brother, Hashbrown, has been hiding. Just like the goody two shoes child of the family. But Hashbrown has also not quite understood how hiding works and his efforts have left him caught out. Even though his sister played a big part in him being found, he did not help himself much either.
You can not help but appreciate the cute little doggy bottom and tiny paws sticking out though. It is far too cute to remove Hasbrown from his terrible hiding spot.
Love
It is not often you see dogs and cats showing this much love and patience to one another, but we guess that if anyone is going to hide you to keep you out of trouble, then the dog-cat hatred can be put aside for a little while. This kitten got blessed with the best spot to hide and to keep warm, right under the Cocker Spaniel's floppy and fluffy ear.
If the Cocker Spaniels ear was just flopped a little more over then this kitten would be completely hidden, which is what cats wish for most, to not be seen and bothered at all.
