Halloween: the time of year where everyone gets to dress up as their favorite literally anything. You love it, we love it, there's honestly nothing not to love... except maybe tons of kids coming to trick or treat at your door, but that can also be fun. That's why we don't know why anyone would choose not to dress up for Halloween. Unfortunately, it happens, and when it does you could end up finding yourself all alone in a sea of costumes. That's what happened to all the people on this list. If you want to see the funny situations they all ended up in, keep scrolling!
Queen Vice President
What meeting taking place on Halloween would be complete without a costume? Apparently, this company didn't intend on dressing up for the holiday, but one employee had a different idea in mind. According to the poster, this is the "VP of Purchasing sitting in a meeting right now listening intently to our president". What makes this costume even greater is how well they portray the character they are trying to be.
Just look at the face he's making! He looks more intent on killing somebody rather than listening to whatever the president is saying. And we wouldn't be surprised if he did; that makeup slays!
Picasso Pupil
Sometimes a costume is more about the clothes you wear and all about the face you put on. For this girl, that was quite literally the case. Dressed up as Pablo Picasso's "Head of a Woman in a Hat", she came to school expecting to be just one in a sea of faces all done up but ended up instead being the odd one out. When classmates started asking, this was all she could do:
We can't lie--we would be a little confused, too--but after the picture, she cleared things right up. At least being the only one in costume helps highlight the detail and work she put in.
Office Demon
Sometimes you want to go all out on your costume to impress your friends and co-workers on Halloween. Well, it's hard to be impressive when you have no one to compare yourself to. That's the predicament this man fell into: "I work in an office and they told people to dress up. I'm the only one dressed up...," said u/0lidag on Reddit. For the work he's put in, that's got to be pretty awkward.
He even went through the trouble of putting horns on his head! How can you tell people to dress up and then not show up in costume? This isn't April Fools, it's October!
Teacher Face
This man decided to go to work all dressed up but quickly found out he was the only one to do so. Apparently, he's the boss of the staff there, so this would have been the perfect opportunity to dress up. On the other hand, with his co-workers all in normal garbs, he can actually pull off his own costume: that of a serial killer who chases after normal people dressed up in a ghoulish mask.
His sign-off to everyone was "Safety first, kids!", but you know that no kid is going to want to talk to him all dressed up like that.
Coded
You know that feeling when you go above and beyond to recreate a character for Halloween? This guy sure knows it, but he's the only one. He says he even went and shaved his head for this costume from the game "Hitman". Though considering that he was the only one to dress up, we think his co-workers might believe he just shaved his head and got a tattoo.
It wouldn't be all bad if that were the case. The tattoo is certainly an odd choice, but this guy rocks it really well. That and the bald head.
Joel
"This is Joel - the only person at work who dressed up for Halloween," explains u/FartTwaller. "He doesn't care that no one else dressed up, he's been working all day like this!" Well, we're happy to hear that he's at least having fun with it. Imagine being the only one dressed up at work for Halloween and having a terrible day on top of that. He certainly looks happy.
We're not exactly sure who that is. Maybe it's the luchadore LA Parka. Either way, we love the costume and the enthusiasm that came with it. Keep up the good work!
The Chicken
Let's address the elephant, er, chicken in the room. Why isn't anyone else dressed up for Halloween?! You have a class full of people, this is one of the best times to dress up and share and compare your costumes. Unfortunately for this guy, it seems he'll be the only one playing chicken here. We hope it's not too distracting for the other students...well, maybe we do. They'll learn their lesson.
And what lesson is that you might ask? Well, obviously it's to always dress up on Halloween. No need to feel embarrassed about it. There's sure to be someone else dressing up as well.
Cup O' Joe
This person got all dressed up for their day in the cubicle... only to find out that they are the only one who got all fancy for the big day. It's not like you can see everyone when you're sitting down at a desk like this, so we think that the co-workers should have maybe given it a try. At least the makeup is fly, there's no arguing with that.
"It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion...... Happy Halloween," says Crabsforeveryone on Imgur. And to that, we say we need a cup of coffee ourselves.
Clowning Around
Here's another person who went to class all dressed up and was left all alone by his classmates. It seems nobody got the memo that it was Halloween. On the bright side, he's bringing quite a lot of color to that dreary classroom. It seems like everyone could use a bit of that in their lives. We're no experts, but we're going to guess that this guy is the class clown.
Bad joke? Yeah, well so is not dressing up on Halloween. Get it together, people! Live a little and let loose. You won't regret it (unless you are also alone in that endeavor).
Spider-Guy
This one is definitely one of the more unexpected incidents so far. This person has literally gone to a Halloween party, yet no one at the party was dressed up aside from them. So when it came time to take a group picture, there was a single Spider-Man standing in between a whole bunch of other, more regular-looking people. If we didn't know this was from Halloween, you probably wouldn't think it was.
What kind of people throw a Halloween party but don't get dressed up for it? You can have a normal party any time you want! This one is supposed to be special.
Chainsaw Disaster
Unsurprisingly, this guy was also the only one at his office to get dressed up. He even brought a prop and everything! It's probably a good thing too that it was Halloween or this guy might have struck fear into the hearts of the people there with his chainsaw. Then again, you probably wouldn't be able to carry a chainsaw around on any other day besides Halloween.
We feel especially bad for this one, actually. He went far enough as to bring a prop with him and no one else was dressed up. It's just an unnecessary extra burden.
The Shark In The Room
Now it's time to talk about the elephant, er, shark in the room... did we do this already? This one is actually pretty hilarious. According to the poster of this image, the guy in the costume was told that he could wear a costume on Halloween. But he quickly found out he was the only one when they reported for a meeting. The look on the face of the shark is just priceless.
In a room full of people that are very serious and clearly ready for combat, this big, smiling shark with his hands up in the air seems to break up all the tension.
Catwoman Congress
And if you thought that last one helped break up the tension, just wait until you see this one. This must have been one heck of a moment for this lady in congress as she sits there dressed as Batwoman amongst a sea of other people. You would think that people in Congress wouldn't be dressing up for Halloween, or if they did it would be more than one.
No such luck, we suppose. But it must have been an interesting experience to sit there amongst everyone looking all serious but being dressed in costume. We want to try this ourselves.
Sailor Moon Workout
How do you go to the gym dressed up in costume without fear that you might ruin the outfit? Go dressed up in pretty casual attire! This woman showed up in one of those costume t-shirts that is meant to only turn your body into a character and leave the rest untouched. Seeing Sailor Moon in a gym like this is not something we would have ever expected to see.
It would have been so much cooler if the others there also dressed up in anime costumes. If there was a gym like that you know we'd be going every single day.
Mike Meyers
We've already seen one man dressed up at work with a chainsaw, another man dressed up as the serial killer Ghostface, and now we've got someone going to work as Mike Meyers complete with a stabby knife. The fake chainsaw was one thing, but now this?! It doesn't help that the dude is big and hulking. If we saw someone like this even on Halloween we'd probably run away in terror.
Well, thankfully we aren't around. It must have been a big fright for this guys co-workers to see him ready to stab someone considering no one else was dressing up that day.
Green And Blue
"Was at a party last weekend. The owner of the apartment told us it will be a green/blue party. (blue is a german expression for being drunk and green for weed). This guy thought we make a costume party," explained u/fritzf. We wouldn't have understood the expression either, guy. Don't feel bad. To be fair, if you're going to be making a party on Halloween, don't call the theme by colors, that's just confusing.
Hey, at least there will be plenty of alcohol at the party. Take enough sips and you'll probably forget all about being the only one to dress up in costume.
Another Chicken
This one is even more interesting. This party was literally a Halloween party but sans the costumes. Apparently, the person in the costume didn't get the memo though because they went completely decked out like a rooster while the others are dressed up all fancy. On the bright side, this costume will definitely attract more attention than whatever everyone else is wearing. And the attention is all that matters.
She looks like she's having a good time, though. It would be hard for us to be among a bunch of really well-dressed people while being dressed as a chicken.
Sad In The Kitchen
When you work in the kitchen, you might not think that anyone would be dressing up for Halloween. It can get really hot in there so getting into full costume would be torturous and any makeup you would wear could easily melt off from the amount of sweat you might produce. Well, this kid still went for it, and the look on his face tells us everything we need to know.
It could not have been fun having to stand around like that while everyone else is normal. It kind of makes you wonder what he's going to be doing with that carrot.
Clowning Around Part 2
"I, too, was the only one wearing a costume at work today," said u/dovanic on Reddit. The best part about this is that she's clearly giving some sort of speech or interview judging by the microphone clipped to her tie. To be quite frank, if you're going to show up at work dressed up for Halloween when you need to do an interview, you're going to look like a clown (pun intended).
To be honest, this probably made whatever she was speaking about many times more interesting. We think that there are some people who should definitely dress like this when they speak.
Pickle
Ah, now here's a missed opportunity. This guy dressed up as a pickle for Halloween but didn't dress up as Pickle Rick. Well, on the bright side he looks very fly. And besides, would you really want to be Pickle Rick if no one else could see you? Maybe it's best that he didn't do that. The costume is really overdone anyway ever since that episode f "Rick and Morty" blew up.
With the kind of confidence that this guy is putting out, we think he'll be just fine all on his own. We just really want to know where he got those glasses from.
Yo Ho Ho
yunadakilla on Imgur posted this picture saying, "I work in a lab and I'm the only one dressed up in my department. Yo ho, yo ho anyone?" Yo ho ho indeed, fine lady. We know that it's just a costume so personality doesn't mean anything, but we can't imagine a pirate showing up to a lab and doing that kind of work. The two just don't mix, you know?
It's especially funny to think about her being the only one dressed up. A pirate in a lab full of white coats must be a really interesting spectacle indeed.
Chain Male
Would you believe us if we told you we found another guy who went dressed up to a literal Halloween party but was the only one in costume? Honestly, we would dress up like this any day of the week. We've done all sorts of sword fighting, so a knight's garb and chainmail is no big deal. We commend this man for bringing a good name to us courageous knights.
And with an ale in hand, no less, this is probably one of our favorite outfits yet. It's just too bad no one ever want to dress up at a Halloween party.
Jack Skelington
Yet another sorry soul that dressed up at work for Halloween but was found to be the only one celebrating. What makes it even sadder is that the person went all the way and dressed up with makeup, the appropriate attire for their character, and even wore a mask or prosthesis of some kind. If we were Jack Skelington and no one else was dressed up, we would think we found ourselves in Christmas Town.
If you're going out like that, you'd hope that everything stays Halloween-y like Halloween Town. But it looks like they found themselves a door leading out of the Hinterlands instead.
T-Rex Madness
Okay, now this is a sight to behold. This person showed up to what looks like a council meeting dressed up as a Tyrannosaurus rex. Imagine having a business meeting and some random dinosaur just shows up and sits down at the table. And the way their little hands are placed so firmly in front of themself makes this scene all the more humorous. They definitely mean business today.
We don't exactly know what's going on here, but we love just how ready to go this person is. Maybe next time everyone else will rethink not getting dressed up.
Huffle Puffed
"I (also) was the only one to dress up at my job for Halloween.," said u/Witheredspoon62. "Compounded with the fact that our store closes for good today, it’s been a day." We have to say that this was probably the best time for you to dress up. Whether or not you were the only one dressed up, this is a pretty good way to spend your last day at a particular job.
It's too bad no one else was able to share in the fun. You'd think that the store closing on Halloween would be the perfect opportunity for people to actually celebrate the holiday.
Pig In A Blanket
The worst is when you make a plan with friends to dress up for Halloween and they decide not to go through with it in the end leaving you the only one in costume. This is precisely what happened to u/IKnowForAFactThatYouDontParty. "No one else dressed up for Halloween. Filthy traitors," he said. Filthy traitors is right. How can they set you up to be the only one standing out from the crowd?
At least it's Halloween so that nobody is going to find you weird for what you're wearing. Not that they would--that's a really cute pig onesie!
Villains Unite
Here we have another person who dressed up as a villain only to find themselves all alone, only this time i's on a Zoom call. You can tell she was pretty surprised by the fact that she was all alone on Halloween, but we're sure that the other people in the meeting were just as surprised to see that Maleficent was waiting for them on the other end of the call.
Still, it's a pretty neat costume. The fact that she went through all the effort to make this happen even though she wasn't even meeting anyone in person is something to be admired.
T-Rex Teacher
We think we might have just fallen in love with this costume. This is another person who dressed themselves up as a Tyrannosaurus rex when everyone else was in normal attire. Only this time it's the teacher of a class so it's extra funny. Imagine walking into a class expecting nothing abnormal when suddenly you see that your teacher is in a costume that's bigger than they are.
We can only imagine how difficult it must have been to pay attention that day. But with only four people in the class to listen to the giant dinosaur, it must not have been all that bad.
Yes Shoes, Yes Costume, No Problem
u/trontrontronmega on Reddit had this to say about Halloween: "My kid was that 'only one in costume' kid yesterday in class. She didn't care". And why should she? She looks absolutely marvelous. And, to be fair, if you're going to dress up as Prince you don't need an excuse. Halloween or not, we're sure this one would have been the life of the party. Or at least the best dressed.
We love how she came home and immediately went to check herself out in the mirror. You can really tell she was feeling good about her costume all day long.
Star-Buck
Sometimes the problem with being the only one dressed up for Halloween is that there is no one to share the work you put into the outfit. At this woman's job, it would have been awesome to see everyone coordinating an outfit. Seeing as she went as a "Star-buck" to her job at Starbucks, we think this was a huge missed opportunity. Maybe they'll go like this again this year.
We love creative ideas like this and the pun makes it even better. We hope that her co-workers can share in the fun this year and maybe make a whole Star-buck crew.
Smurfy
It must have really sucked for this person to show up in costume all alone. As he said on Reddit through his username Papa_Skittles, "All of my coworkers agreed to dress up as smurfs for Halloween. Im the only one to go through with it." We've said it once, and we'll say it again: if you're going to make a plan to dress up for Halloween, you should go through with it.
We admire the effort he went through to make this costume a reality, though. You can tell that he scrounged up a bunch of different pieces to make it work and work it does.
Count Dogula
It seems that people aren't the only ones dressing up for Halloween parties these days. As told by u/plo_op on Reddit: "Today was a costume party at my dog's daycare but he was the only one dressed up. He's traumatized." By the looks of it, we would agree. Being alone at a party as the only one dressed up can both be pretty awkward and scary for the person who got dressed up.
That being said, this has got to be the cutest little Count Doggo in the whole wide world. At least, we think it's a vampire. Either way, it's still super cute!
The Baba-Oops
This is one of those moments where you can see the disappointment in the eyes of the person who got dressed up and was all alone. The person in question decided to go as the really creep Babadook from the children's book that appeared in the movie by the same name. Too bad for her, the party was supposed to be more of an "adult" party and she got dressed up for nothing.
To be fair, that Babadook costume is really well done, so at least that's something to be happy about. Then again, if she put a smile on her face it might ruin the illusion.
24 Carrot Gold
It seems like all too often people are making an agreement to come to work or a part dressed up for Halloween but then not actually going through with it. Unfortunately for Melanie Bracewell, she was not braced well enough (see what we did there?) to know not to come to work dressed up. She went to work for the second year in a row as the only one dressed even though they agreed to it.
At least she makes a very good carrot. It seems that this room ful of people loved the outfit as well. We're sure they're probably regretting the decision not to celebrate.
McFly As Heck
"I was the only person I saw dressed up today, but I think I looked McFly as hell," said MEG4NTRON on Imgur. We couldn't have said it better ourselves. If we hadn't watched "Back to the Future" we probably wouldn't have even realized that she was wearing a costume. She looks so good in this outfit that we would believe her if she told us that this was what she wore every day.
We have to rate this outfit a 10/10. Anyone who can pull this off certainly deserves it. Now if you'll excuse us, we have a fantastic trilogy to go watch.
