The technology industry has progressed far beyond what we previously thought it would, although human error seems to progress too. From broken laptops and tumbleweed structured wiring to using a wooden desk as a server cabinet. The unthinkable has been accomplished by humans using poor practices when it comes to the technology industry. This will make you look twice or even three times and think “I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to look”. The images that these IT technicians shared are really painful to look at.
Screen Replacement
A brand new HP laptop that is mangled is a painful sight. By the looks of it, this laptop made a failed attempt to get off the train and got stuck in-between the subway doors. We definitely hope the owner took that optional insurance tech companies are always trying to persuade us into getting. If he didn’t the bill for this repair is going to be a lot more than just a screen replacement.
On second thought, the owner is better off selling the laptop for parts. By the way, what's up with that new HP logo? If it's not broke don't fix it, we mean the logo, not the laptop.
Big Bertha
Having a text file that is that big makes us really wonder what is on it... What important information with such an extremely large amount of data could it hold?! Whatever it is, must have taken forever to write. Let’s just hope that the owner doesn't accidentally delete the file or lose the flash drive it’s on. And look at the file name! “Big Bertha”, the World War 2 siege artillery canon.
We did a bit of research here. This file is 1.69 terabytes, 1 character of text is 1 byte, 1 terabyte is 1000 gigabytes. We can go on with the math, in short, that file has over a trillion and a half сharacters or seven hundred million pages!
Enough Is Enough
Whoever this was, probably had enough of having to plug in their adapter that kept coming out of the socket. From the looks of it, they decided to create something that resembles somewhat of a grappling hook. Let’s hope that the other end of that charger isn’t glued the same way to the laptop. And if it is, on the bright side, they will never have to look for the charger.
They were more than likely tired of their spouse constantly moving or misplacing the charger and having to look for it. The idea of this “magnificent” creation was there, but the execution…
Free Diving
Looks like this laptop really wanted to take up Olympic free diving as a sport. Unfortunately, it's more than likely not going to see another working day. The amount of rust and burnt processors it has is mind-blowing. It’s not clear whether it was an accidental coffee spill or simply got forgotten out in the rain when still plugged in. One thing is certain, Dell is not going to replace this one.
Can you imagine coming to the service center with this thing? “Oh hey, I had a little water spill accident here, can I activate that user warranty I bought with the laptop?”
Wasps
While looking at this image, it's hard to wonder how exactly they got into this desktop. Whether it's through a vent or if the box was left open, it was surely not the best thing to open your computer up to. Making their home inside with sufficient air conditioning and ample warmth these wasps sure made the best of it. Looks like they were making a routine maintenance check and ended up building a freaking hive in there!
It’s best to just replace the whole fan after seeing that, or maybe even the whole device altogether. We don’t know about you, but this gives us some serious goosebumps.
Rusty
The best thing about this photo is the fact the desktop is standing right next to a sealing agent. Whether it’s a waterproofing sealant is the last thing on everyone’s mind. This desktop has taken a beating from nature’s best. With rust all over it, it reminds you of artifacts found inside of a historical museum. If this thing somehow still works, it surely won’t be playing the latest games.
By the looks of it, recycling this ancient Windows 95 computer for scrap metal would be the best choice out there. If rusted metal has any value to it of course.
Please Don't
Well, that’s a pure danger to everyone in that building, not just the office space. Whoever did this was probably not thinking about the danger it poses to them and the people in the office building. Trying to diffuse the level of danger by sticking a “do not touch, please” is an effort though. The fire department will not be happy about this when they do their investigation trying to figure out what burned the building down.
The device and everything around the place seem to need to be repaired or the very least replaced. Definitely not an area anyone would like to spend “quality time” at.
Cable
Well, If you were confused as to why the never-ending buffering symbol was on your smart TV? The internet provider in this neighborhood had never finished connections. Probably making the whole neighborhood furious, internet costs will not be in their monthly expenses just yet. If watching Netflix with the family or watching the latest golf highlights was in your plans, reschedule that. Unfinished work seems to be the epicenter of all malfunctioning technology.
A choice to leave the project in the state that it is to go and watch Tiger Woods make a comeback in PGA makes anyone that sees it cringe underneath their skin.
Drywall
We are impressed by the confidence anyone would have in those screws holding onto the drywall. Besides clearly using the wrong equipment and screws, the effort was minimal. This would leave anyone extremely uncomfortable if every single outlet and housing plug is installed that way. The very least they could do is use the right drywall screws! Let’s just hope that the cables that protrude from the outlet are long enough.
The overall image makes everyone not ever want to encounter this in their own home. The company that did this must have gotten a “word” or two from this customer.
Boom
Just imagine coming into your baby’s room and next to the infant bed you find this thing laying around split into two with the inflated battery about to go “boom”. The fact that this happened to a baby monitor is quite disturbing and if you ask us, every single one of those monitors should really be recalled. The good news is that this battery did not explode and harm anyone.
Lenovo is usually considered quite a reliable technology supplier. So what went wrong or how it went wrong in this situation is quite unclear. Maybe the user is to blame here…
New Look
The monitor and the mouse got a brand new spotted look after someone used the wrong spray cleaner for them. Or maybe a bleached, spotty look is what they were going for? If that’s the case they really nailed that one. No precaution was taken around the monitor either and unfortunately resulted in this situation. Pouring the whole bottle of that liquid acid will even out the color and restore the equipment.
Well, it will probably just even out the color of the plastic and that is about it. You can definitely forget the LCD image quality this monitor was advertised for.
It’s Alright
Walking past this and catching even a slight glimpse of that is unsettling. Everything around the server is neat but what were they thinking leaving the inside in such a mess? Looking like cobwebs from a Halloween movie, this company must have been in a rush to set up their servers. Just think about it, someone closed that door, took a good look at it, and went, “ah it’s alright”.
All that was needed was a couple of cable ties and maybe just extra 20 minutes of their time to fix that masterpiece. Perhaps they were going for an “abstract” look?
Exchange Program
What an unusual way to apply for that famed “Keyboard exchange program” Apple has. If your keyboard is malfunctioning, Apple will replace it for you for free depending on your MacBook model. What we would like to know is if their application got approved or not. Whatever the case may be, let's just be optimistic and hope that it did. Cleaning that thing after a failed attempt would be an absolute nightmare to get done.
Imagine being told that your keyboard can not be replaced after absolutely ruining it like that. We would cry on the inside at the thought of having to dismantle and clean it.
Shipping
Weirdly enough, really expensive equipment was delivered cheaply. That extra $5 shipping insurance would have come in hand this time wouldn’t it? This is probably one of the packages you see on YouTube videos being tossed around. If you’re planning on ordering from the same place again, maybe you should assemble it yourself. This desktop looks more like an incomplete puzzle than a computer. With everything lying around like that, we won’t be surprised if 80% of the equipment doesn’t work.
On top of that, a lot of those parts look expensive and custom-made. Whoever ordered this pre-built office PC best not order from this store again, at least we wouldn’t.
Fit
Although this laptop is in two separate pieces, the fact that it’s still alive is astounding. We are not sure if we should be disappointed or amazed at the sight of this. The hinges look destroyed and it looks like this “accident” happened during a fit of rage after losing a “Mortal Kombat” match. The good news is that sticking a simple pop socket to the back of the monitor will save you a buck or two.
We bet the guy that did this regrets jumping into a game after a long stressful day of work. Kids remember, if a short temper fuse is an issue with you, gaming is not for you.
Pencils
So they say that “an apple a day, keeps the doctor away”, but looking at this picture makes us want to see a cardiologist. Apple products seem to have great build quality but these pens do not exactly look like they have much structural integrity left in them. It's either the plastic recycling bin or repair center that seems to be the next delivery these pencils will be going through.
Ordering apple pencils paired with an insurance plan seems to be a great combination. Let’s just hope that this customer thought of that before this wholesale purchase was made.
Cracker
This is a terrible shipping incident, once again. Taking cheaper shipping doesn’t necessarily mean shipping conditions are harsh. It usually just means shipping times are longer. In this case, they got both. We don’t think a simple tape is going to fix this one. Always use the more expensive shipping service, otherwise, you will stand a chance of this happening with your package. Just think of the kind of treatment the package got...
This PC part now looks more like a Graham Cracker than an actual part. All that it can be used for is to clean the gaps in that MacBook keyboard.
Customs
From broken apple pencils to broken Ipads. Why would anyone do such a thing to an amazing piece of technology like this?! Now they can only be used as a paperweight or something to scoop from the floor. Well, maybe some parts could be re-used depending on where those holes are drilled but that’s just us being optimistic. In case you are confused, these were confiscated and destroyed by the border customs.
It’s really such a shame to see this happen. Ok, so there is no license to resell them, just confiscate them and donate them to those that really need them.
RAM
This is hilarious to look at. So they took both the RAM and the RAM’s housing out of the motherboard. RAM’s housing is usually stuck firmly onto the motherboard, so some force must have been used here. There is not much you could do after this really. Just to sit and admire the royal mess up you created. “WAM BAM no more RAM!”. Usually, 2GB RAM is needed to function but this computer has -4 RAM.
Of course, this is not a “broken into two pieces” type of disaster but it’s still a mess, especially if you have no clue how to put them back in.
Thermal Paste
So this is some type of a PC part, probably the CPU, with a bit of thermal paste on it, just a bit. They sure did use all the thermal paste out of that bottle. Hopefully, it is at least running at a cool temperature now. All they had to do was add a few streaks or drops to the CPU and that’s all. But they decided to get every bang for their buck...
Here’s an idea, before using the entire tube of the thermal paste, why not check out a “How to” video on youtube?! Or maybe just let a professional do the fixing.
Cooling System
If the coldest cooling system is what they were going for, they were almost there. Seriously, putting the fans in front of the air conditioner like that won’t work the way it’s supposed to. We wouldn’t be surprised if they got this information from those tech scammers that “help you get the virus off your computer”. The only thing getting cooled is the fan. As for the rest of the computer, you could only say that it won’t be functioning at peak performance.
Could someone perhaps assist them with their cooling system? Just not the “thermal paste” guy. We can probably recommend some techy kids with more knowledge than this IT enthusiast has.
Super Glue
Sometimes online tech gadget hacks don’t work out just as planned. From that moment onwards, it’s safe to say that they could never figure out why they couldn’t log into their email address. Not only was it super glued, but the superglue was applied excessively and the button ended up being skewed. It is such a shame to see all this effort for very little result, if not, no result whatsoever.
Next time maybe at first they should just try consulting anyone skilled in anything that has to do with computers. Again, anyone but the “thermal paste” expert will do just fine.
Local Provider
Let’s just hope that this is not a picture from your local service provider. The last thing you want is to be placed in a queue by caller number 5999 because they can’t find the first person's line. If you’re a technician on your way to this site, we hope you’ve packed your bags because you’re going to be there for a long time. The positive side is that on the actual board itself, it seems to be organized.
This seems like an ever-increasing fire hazard. Imagine working there and dropping a wire that took you three hours to find. We could not even imagine having to sort through those wires.
Battery
Another swollen battery, we wonder if the battery industry will ever be able to stop this from happening. At this point, this battery looks more like one of those orange-flavored Capri Suns and not a functioning battery. It probably smells horrible as well. But all jokes aside, this is a nightmare that is waiting to happen. That thing can easily explode and hurt whoever is standing next to it.
We are just glad that this “battery balloon” was actually discovered before it went “boom”. Just imagine you are plugging the ddvice to recharge and it explodes along with your house fuse box.
Sad
This is truly just sad. We’re not sure if this is just screens or whole devices that decided to come tumbling down but we hope no one was injured in the process. The whole cabinet seems to have broken and everything had fallen and that is the last thing that any repairman wants to see in his office. This is not the type of couch you’d like to find yourself laying on top of.
Anyone with OCD would have a heart attack looking at this. The best thing to do here is to get a cleaning company to come and clean this pile of heartbreak up.
Wireless
Probably the worst thing you could do to a computer class you don’t like. Why would someone ever do this? We don’t exactly have an answer for that but it is a bit evil. When someone asks for a wireless keyboard this is the last thing that they want to receive. This is probably something that you will receive when you order a wireless keyboard from a website with repetitive fake positive reviews.
Or perhaps this was done by a rebel employee? Someone who decided that it is a perfect day for everyone in the office to go drinking in a bar rather than crunching those numbers in.
Refurbishing Job
Knowing that this is an old pinball machine plug kind of puts us at ease seeing the state of it. Probably something that could and should be replaced but maybe a really good attempt could get it refurbished and working. We will leave that up to the experts though. This looks like it is in a rough shape and not something we would like to run across. We don’t even want to know what the inside looks like.
Whoever is refurbishing this, has the patience as well as the efforts to put into this because it is in absolutely horrid shape. Let’s just wish the technician good luck with this project.
Spray-Painted
Someone spray-painted a MacBook here. The sheer fact that they even choose to mask off the apple logo is difficult to cope with. Not only did they ruin a MacBook, but they’ve also ruined it terribly! If you are going to do something silly like spray-painting a laptop, at least put an effort into it and do it properly. Let’s not even mention that they chose a hideous color to use as well!
How do you even fix this now? A nail polish remover is not going to help. Maybe repainting it white and sticking on an Apple logo sticker will somewhat fix it...
It's Ok
So picture this, you are casually plugging in the charger to your MacBook and the next thing you know you can smell burned plastic, rubber, and some flesh all mixed together. That’s what happened here. The good news is that no one got seriously hurt and that goes for the laptop too, well maybe the owner is a bit traumatized but other than that everything is ok. Even the battery is ok.
If this damage is not caused by water or wrong use the warranty should be able to cover this and replace the charge. The best choice would be not to plug that same charger in again.
Scooter Strong
We would not recommend anyone coming within one hundred meters of those. We would even call in a bomb squad and not an electrician to handle thees CSB batteries. They are the type of lead-acid batteries that are used to power scooters. Whether this resulted from overcharging or manufacturing defects this thing just looks dangerous. Imagine one of those 12 Volts batteries going off while you are riding a scooter!
Putting thees far away from anyone wandering around would be a very good choice. No one really wants something like this expanding anymore and possibly exploding causing some serious injuries.
Mouse
If you are wondering what that weird dangling thing is, let us help you out. If you are old enough to remember this, in the ’90s this device would have a trackball. Getting the clue? Yep, that is a mouse. So apparently this technician got called to come into an office to help someone to figure out why a new mouse they bought is not working. Well turns out the old mouse was still attached at the back.
The best part is that the person using this PC thought that this was some internal part that is not to be touched. We really can’t figure out what happened to the case...
SSD
In case you are not sure what is happening here, these broken laptops are benign ripped up for their SSD’s to be re-used. By the looks of it, the laptops that are being ripped apart are somewhat recent models and it’s probably useless to try to restore them. So breaking them up for parts would be the best choice. Recycling old computers is a great idea if you ask us.
Lenovo T series laptops tend to last a long time so those must have taken a serious beating before they got dumped like that. But at least their spirit will live on in a different laptop.
Oven
When you mess up and spill water on your keyboard, do not put it in the oven to dry. We're all about life hacks but this is taking it a bit too far. fortunately, this situation is not just dangerous. but it’s also hilarious to see. We’re not exactly sure what went through their mind but it sure wasn’t common sense. The fact that heat melts plastic is something we all learn before we even start first grade.
Hopefully, the actual keyboard mechanism still works as it seems to be intact. And if that’s the case maybe this is actually fixable with some new keyboard plastic buttons that can be ordered online.
HDMI
“I pushed the cable in a bit too hard” that’s hilarious to read and look at the results. By a bit hard, do they mean hammering it in with a four-pound hammer? A bit too hard is an understatement and judging by the looks of it, this kid must be extremely strong. This PlayStation’s HDMI port needs to be replaced, well actually not just the port but the whole back panel as well.
The best choice for this kid is to not be left unattended playing games. We are not exactly sure if this rage situation is funny or dangerous. What will he be breaking next time?
Not Working
By the looks of it, this thing is definitely not working anymore. It's either been driven over by a truck or thrown off of the Burj Khalifa around 30 times. It’s safe to say that not a single pixel will be shown on the screen ever again. But what we really want to know is why would anyone even bother bringing it to the repair shop in the first place?
This is by far the worst case of damage to a MacBook we have ever come across and there is no hope of ever being able to bring this one back.
