There are a whole bunch of Halloween costumes out there. You can always go with the classic witch or ghost, but maybe you want to do something more, something no one has done before. Maybe that thing is something funny as well. You need a meme costume. While some of these may not be a brand new costume, considering the way the pandemic has been and the fact that some of these memes are new for 2021, you are guaranteed to find something here that you won't see anywhere else (except maybe the internet). If you want to find the perfect costume for you this Halloween, check out these great ideas:
This Is Fine
When life's got you down and you just don't know what to do with yourself, you should just light everything up and accept your fate... as long as that fate is making this costume and wearing it proudly and safely. If you're looking for the perfect outfit that represents the general vibe that we feel in our everyday lives, the "this is fine" meme costume is probably right for you.
Just make sure that whatever you do you don't actually set anything on fire. That is definitely not fine and you might end up spending a long time in jail.
Y Tho
But that's not the only good costume to describe your feelings. If you never understand the reason things happen or why people do what they do, perhaps you should consider doing the "y tho" meme. It's new, it's classy, and best of all it's pretty easy to do.
All you need is a yellow cloak, a yellow shower cap, and a face that truly begs the question "y tho?"
Young Rock
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. You love him, we love him, we honestly don't know anyone who truly hates him. And it only got better when we got word that a photo of himself from his younger years was shared on his Instagram. Ever since this picture has been an iconic look that many people have parodied. Now it's your time to show everyone what you can do with it.
You too should consider donning this outfit for Halloween. It's the perfect representation of obscure celebrity facts that some people might b delighted to be opened up to.
Mannequin Head
Does this one even need an explanation? If you're looking for something to amaze your friend (as well as confuse, distract, and best of all entertain them as well) then you should consider trying out the outfit from the mannequin head video. You know the one that goes along with the song "U Name It", the song with the lyrics naming a whole bunch of food products.
If you want to dance around in the supermarket looking like this, then you should definitely try this costume out. Be sure you can see though and dance responsibly.
Squinting Woman
While she isn't technically squinting at anything at all, we don't have to tell anyone that. It'll be our little secret. Speaking of secrets, we won't tell anyone if you want to try this outfit for your next Halloween experience. If you're struggling hard to find the right outfit, then you're probably ready to bend over and squint. Once you do, you'll see that your next costume is definitely this one.
It's relatively simple, too. You just need a pink blazer, some ripped-up black jeans, and a pair of black heels. Oh, and don;t forget your suunglasses. It really brings the whole look together.
Kermit Sipping Tea
Ah, yes, the Kermit sipping tea meme. This one is still relevant today making it one of the best options for your Halloween festivities. If you've got an attitude that just screams nosiness but you don't really want to get involved, then this is for you. Sure you could wear this outfit yourself, but why not give it to your little one so they can also be in the holiday spirit as well?
But whoever you decide to put it on is fine. That's none of our business tho. If you want to really wow the crowd, try it out. And for those who aren't dank enough, everyone knows who Kermit is,
Is This A Pigeon?
This quote from the anime "The Brave Fighter Of Sun Fighbird" is one that many people thought was a case of failure to translate properly. In fact, it is the proper translation of the Japanese dub where a humanoid robot misidentifies a butterfly as a pigeon. Still, this meme quickly became a way to express your confusion over a certain subject. And if that subject is the costume you're going to wear for Halloween, might we suggest this one?
There are plenty of ways to make this costume your own. You don't need a butterfly, you can easily misidentify anything your heart desires. Play with it and be funny!
Woman Yelling At A Cat
These two memes used to be their own separate reaction memes. Now, they are used in conjunction to express a feeling of confusion when someone is yelling at you. If you're looking for a costume that works for partners, then you should consider trying this one out. One person needs to be "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" cast members Taylor Armstrong and the other can be Smudge the cat.
Anytime someone expresses confusion with your outfit, feel free to start yelling at them. Just set up your cat partner behind them so you can explain when they get even more upset and confused.
ERMAHGERD
For when you really want to hit that dank meme craving, you should try dressing up in one of the classics. Specifically, we think the girl from the ERMAHGERD meme is perfect for you. If you have some old Goosebumps books lying around, then you should definitely consider putting your hair back in some pigtails and donning a puke green-colored vest over a long-sleeved shirt. Make sure you practice your ERMAHGERD!
Your friends will have a great time with this. Not only is it a look, but a personality as well. You can't ERMAHGERD without a few extra tricks up your sleeve.
Baby Yoda And Chicky Nuggies
Who doesn't love baby Yoda? He's become quite a pop culture icon these days. Even more so than the original Yoda, and that's saying something. And, of course, there is plenty of him to love, such as the time he stole some chicky nuggies from a classmate after he refused to share. In fact, we think that that is the perfect idea for a costume because it's cute and allows you to eat any time.
What could there be to hate about this outfit? Food, good looks, sounds like we've pretty much covered all the bases. Now you just need to figure out some way to use the force.
Daffy Duck Striptease
This is about as sexy as these costumes are going to get. If you want an outfit that will help you look stunning while also standing out in the crowd amongst your friends, then this is definitely a good option. In one "Looney Tunes" episode, there was a moment where Daffy Duck began to undress slowly and seductively. Because, you know, ducks are wearing their feathers like a coat.
It's definitely one of those obscure things, but it's also a really cool costume to set up for yourself. People will definitely "flock" over to you (pun intended).
Patrick Dancing In Heels
And I oop. We totally forgot about this one. Yes, we know we made the list, but when we said the last one was the only sexy one, we really did forget that this one was here. Granted, "sexy" isn't exactly how we would describe this one, but if you want to make it that way then, by all means, go ahead. But we love Spongebob and this is one of the best memes to come out of it.
Rewatching this episode of "SpongeBob SquarePants" actually had us shook. How could we miss such an obvious display of suggestive behavior in our favorite show as a kid? Now we're doubting everything else.
Guy Fieri
We know what you're thinking: "But Guy Fieri isn't a meme!" Well, if that's really something you're thinking right now, then you're wrong. He is the memiest of the famous chefs of the world and he will probably stay that way forever. In fact, everything about him was a meme before he even was a meme So if you don't think he's a meme... well, you don't know what a meme is.
So take yourself to Flavortown, get som bomb-diggity sauce, and dye your facial hair in crazy ways to make yourself stand out amongst the sea of faces this Halloween
Among Us Character
Speaking of memes that aren't really memes but are totally memes in their own right, we haven't yet talked about Among Us. For those of you who didn't get the memo, Among Us was one of the top games during the early stages of the pandemic. You play as one of up to ten characters trying to guess who the killer is in a Mafia meets Danganronpa style video game.
But if you're the person who actually needed that explanation, maybe this isn't the right outfit for you. Check out the rest of these cool meme inspired Halloween outfits below!
Spider-Man Pointing At Spider-Man
When your favorite thing to do is laugh at someone just like you, then all you need to be true is that your Halloween costume is Spider-Man as well as a fellow friend of yours. You can interpret it how you will, but the most popular iteration of this meme is Spider-man pointing at himself and laughing because there's some guy in a stupid suit trying to square off with him.
Though, if you don't have a friend we suppose you can just bring a mirror with you everywhere you go. Or you can just be regular Spider-Man but that's boring
Shia LaBeouf
If there is anyone else who has become a meme, you can bet that person is the legendary Shia LaBeouf. Whether it be his performance art, his online persona, or anything else you can think of, this man has become one of those who embodies dank culture. So if you wanted to try to be him for Halloween, the good news is that you have a whole slew of options to choose from.
Our personal favorite is the "I'm not famous anymore" version where he proceeded to withdraw from all public life. We hope you made the right decision, Shia. You will live on in us.
Tracksuit Robert Pattinson Standing In The Kitchen
This behind-the-scenes photo of Robert Pattinson on the set of the film "Good Time" has us all wondering what was going on. Because the picture didn't spread around the internet until around three years later, we were all left to wonder as meme after meme was created using this picture, including one that said "'Help your cousin get more folding chairs from the garage' / The cousin:
Can you tell which one of these is the real Robert Pattinson? This is probably one of the funniest pictures we have seen of him and is totally Halloween-worthy.
For The Better, Right?
One of our favorite memes is the Anakin and Padme memes where Anakin tells Padme something good and she responds with a question. In response to her question, he gives her a knowing yet apposing look. Because we love it so much, we think you should try to reinvent this meme with a look of your own. It's best with two people but you can dress as one or the other, of course.
Whether or not you'll be able to replicate this amazing meme is up to you. But we want you to know that we believe in you and you're making the world a better place like this... right?
Arthur Fist Meme
When we first saw this meme we thought it was so funny because it's so out of place. Arthur is usually such a good, loving aardvark, but the scene that this meme comes from proves he can mean too sometimes. Used as a reaction to many things that bother people, this meme became so iconic simply because of the character it came from. It may be hard, but a costume is certainly possible.
If you really want to up the anty, you could also add a pair of ears similar to Arthur's. It'll help complete the look and might even make it more recognizable.
Peppa Pig Hanging Up
You probably haven't seen "Peppa Pig" enough to have seen this episode, so we'll give a brief explanation. Peppa Pig is sad because she can't figure out how to whistle, so she calls up her friend Suzie Sheep. She doesn't even know what whistling is, but the minute Peppa describes it to her she successfully manages to whistle and Peppa pig immediately hangs up the phone with a shocked expression.
When we saw this scene we nearly choked. It was so funny that we just had to list it here. It deserves to be a costume just as much as the rest of these memes.
Nyan Cat For Your Cat
If you were looking for something to dress your pet up in, then look no further than this Nyan Cat outfit. Nyan Cat is a cat who is also a piece of icing slathered bread with a rainbow trailing behind it. It is one of the cutest things out there and if you want your cat to share in the Halloween spirit, then this is the perfect gift for them.
It's light and fluffy so as long as they're not finicky they should be able to wear it without a problem. Of course, you have to be careful that they don't claw at it like a yarn toy.
Nyan Cat For You
Of course, since your cat probably won't be going trick or treating, you could always dress up as Nyan Cat yourself. There are a variety of ways to make the costume, but the one we listed below shows how you can make it as a sort of backpack for yourself. Of course, you might want to add a rainbow trail for that added authenticity and extra level of coolness.
Although, this does look a little bit cumbersome, so if you want to leave it to your animal you sure can. But we would definitely love to see someone give a little love to this little guy.
Feel Like A Sir
If you are really stuck with what to do regarding your Halloween costume, maybe it's time you call it quits. There aren't many options for you, you're not creative enough, don't have the right materials... oh, but you could take an extra elegant cloth of the finest silk, apply a top hat of the utmost fashion to your head, and wear some manner or other of monocle and feel like a sir.
This is quite the verbose fashion statement you'd be making, we do believe. Feel free to dress up as any nondescript victorian era gentleman or lady and have a fine Hallows' Eve.
Grumpy Cat
There's no way we could continue this list without mentioning grumpy cat. This meme took the internet by storm one day and we haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. It just fits so many situations that are common to everyday life. But when Arthur's fist meme came out it sort of fell into obscurity. Well, no longer, we say! Make a statement by aking a costume out of it.
We do hope, though, that you don't end up going to a terrible Halloween party. Hopefully, you won't actually have the need to pull out your grumpy face on Halloween.
Oh Yeah!!
Everyone knows the Kool-Aid man. He's the living jug of Kool-Aid that always breaks through walls screaming his signature catchphrase "OH YEAH!" In "Family Guy", this is often proceeded by a bit of bad news and everyone exclaiming "Oh no!" But whatever take you have on this costume, it's sure to be a really great one. And the best part is, it works really well if you're pregnant according to the picture below.
So whether you're pregnant or not, choose the regular version or the "Family Guy" one, however you choose to use it we're sure that it'll be the life of the party.
My Momma Said
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wasn't the only one who got an image of his younger self posted on the internet. Granted, he did it himself, but when it comes to this one, Cardi B wasn't exactly expecting it. Still, she posted the meme of her ironically shy-looking younger self to her Instagram the next day and it blew up. Captions not unlike "My momma said y’all have to play with me" started showing up everywhere.
She's actually really cute in this picture, and there is a certain charm to the childlike talk this meme provides her. We think it makes a great outfit for Halloween.
Drakeposting Memes
If you're going for something relatively low-key, you can try out something like the Drakeposting meme where users would upload a photo of Drake from his music video of "Hotline Bling" knocking one thing, but accepting another. It's a pretty simple costume, we'll admit, but if you can pull it off then it can be a really good and easy way to dress up without trying too hard to make a costume.
What it all comes down to is the look. You've got to make sure that you've got those poses down pat and that you do it often enough to make the costume make sense.
And I Oop
One of the best memes these days is the "And I Oop" meme. Originating from one of drag queen Jasmine Master's online video rants. In the video, she is seen talking about the need to handle your liquor. Towards the end, she is in the middle of a sentence saying "so...I crash in my back seat for a couple of hours and I" before she unexpectedly hits herself in her groin exclaiming "oop" in pain.
The meme is used to express a moment of shocking revelation and the look she gave is so iconic that it can totally be a costume worthy of your time.
Heard You Have The Plague ;)
This meme is mildly suggestive and is another way you can take your costumes up a notch. The original image is a lady trying to be seductive on Snapchat while wearing a plague doctor mask. The image ended up spreading around due to its sheer absurdity. Who knew you could be sexy while wearing that mask and talking about a deadly disease. In the current climate, you probably cannot be.
In this day and age, the plague mask might actually be your best friend. It's both a little humorous while also protective and quite relatable to the pandemic at hand.
Salt Bae
Who could forget Salt Bae, the man who took the internet by storm with his perfect salting technique by bouncing salt off of his elbow? Probably everyone knows him at this point, and he's been making quite a resurgence recently with the exorbitant prices he requests at his London restaurant. Whether you love him or hate him, he's a big part of our lives now and totally meme-worthy.
And it's not even that hard to do the outfit! All you really need are a pair of round glasses and a low collar plain white t-shirt. Try it this year!
You Know I Had To Do It To Em
The "You know I had to do it to em" meme is based off of a post by Twitter user @LuckyLuciano17k in which he poses on a sidewalk wearing classy clothes (and a gauge earing). The meme was used in photoshop memes among others that use the picture to mock certain things. It's a bit obscure, but if you know this meme and you love it, we encourage you to try it out.
There are so many things you can do with this, too, if people don't understand it. You can be a generic rich boy or whatever else this seems to be to you.
Mittens Bernie Sanders
Who can forget that moment at the inauguration of Joe Biden that Senator Bernie was caught all bundled up looking like this? Well, we think that this can be the perfect Halloween costume for you for a few reasons. The first is it's hilarious. That look he's giving like he doesn't have the time is iconic. Another reason is this is a really good way to stay warm in some of the colder states on Halloween.
And let's be real: this would complete the perfect look of you brooding in the corner all alone at that party you don't really want to go to. Try it this year!
The Evergreen
Okay, this is a bit of a stretch, but bear with us: you should totally try to dress up as that boat, the Ever Given, that clogged up the Suez canal earlier this year. Why? Because it's a challenge, it's obscure, thereby giving you the chance to be unique, and it's funny. Sure, maybe it wasn't so funny for the people who had to figure out how to fix it, but it was to us.
Did you even know that a boat could get stuck like that? Not to mention the fact that the canal looked like it had enough room to fix the problem.
Shocked Pikachu
This one is a classic. Or, at least, it will become a classic. Although Pikachu is probably a common costume and a bit overdone, there hasn't really been a chance to update the outfit with this amazing meme. If you really wanted to be a Pokémon this year, then you should consider being Pikachu just so that you can bring the fun to the party. Not that you wouldn't otherwise.
This will give you the perfect opportunity to use the memes IRL on your friends. And if it's too obscure, then you can always wear a yellow shirt with the meme plastered on.
Bad Luck Brian
Feeling down on your luck? Maybe you can't figure out which of these amazing costumes are right for you. Well, in that case, have we got the perfect outfit for your Halloween. It's Bad Luck Brian! Although you probably could have surmised that from the title of this item. And this one also has a personality that you can attach to that: cute-ish, nerdy, and overall really unfortunate to be.

In fact, the point that you can't figure out another outfit just gives this outfit yet another aspect to it. And let's be real: someone has to bring the old classics back to the action.
