We appreciate creativity, and we're always in the market for a good pun. What better way to combine the two than with body art--that is, tattoos! Most people get tattoos for personal or sentimental reasons. However, it seems like there are those out there who do so just to mess with the rest of us. Here are some examples of tattoos that had us doing a double take, for better and for worse. Hopefully they'll make you groan and chuckle as much as we did!
1. T-Bag
Whether you're a tea lover or a dinosaur fanatic, this tattoo will be great for you. The gentle flowers and floating string contrast nicely with the dinosaur skeleton in the tea bag itself.
Whoever thought up this punny little tattoo deserves a pat on the back. It's colorful and understated, and definitely brings on a bit of a chuckle. We wouldn't have any problems growing old with that tattoo on our arm!
2. Olive My Love
We're such suckers for puns! This tattoo is so fun and so silly. Who would tattoo a can of olives on their arm? Anyone would, if it was for the sake of a pun!
We also like how clean and simple the artwork is, and how nicely the leaves of the flowers compliment the leaves on the olives. The symmetry just warms our souls.
3. Four Arm
This one definitely took us a second to figured out, we got distracted by the four severed arms drawn on this...forearm! Get it? This tattoo is definitely a little out there.
It takes a brave person to get disembodied limbs tattooed on their own limbs. The style of this design may not be fore everyone, but the pun definitely holds up!
4. Gallows Humor
While were on the theme of dismembered limbs and other macabre things, this tattoo certainly takes gallows humor to the next level, as there is literally a noose hanging from a gallows.
The sign that says 'Hang In There' is both reassuring and...not. We shouldn't hang in there...should we? Maybe this one is less of a pun and more of a mindbender.
5. Artichoke Hearts
This tattoo is for all of your veggie lovers out there. Eat your hearts out--your artichoke hearts, that is! Artichoke hearts are definitely a rare delicacy since it requires lots of work to get to them.
The vegetables in this tattoo also look good enough to eat. The beautiful greens and purples of the artichokes also appear in the arugula that's flanking the heart like two healthy wreaths. Yum!
6. Pussy Willow
We love the soft buds that appear on the pussy willow tree every year, they're just so fun to pet. This artist took the name of the tree literally and added some cats to the tree.
It's almost possible to feel how soft and cuddly those cats are! This tattoo is definitely one of our favorites. Excuse us while we go out and find some pussy willow branches to touch.
7. Blue Berry
Awww, this poor berry looks so....blue! This tattoo had us laughing out loud, it's just so clever. And that sad face! Who could say no to a berry that looks like that?
We also did a double take because this tattoo does look a bit like a certain Pokémon we all know and love. But we're going to let that one go, since it isn't part of the pun.
8. Stay Corny
Ah, the pun that encompasses all puns: stay corny. Of course, this tattoo is specifically referring to a corn dog, but we'll just apply it across the board.
The corn dog itself certainly looks good enough to eat. And we're glad it does, because in order to get a corn dog tattoo, you have to really love corn dogs!
9. Bees Knees
This is apparently a very popular pun, because lots of people seem to like to get bees tattooed on their knees. We guess it makes them feel like...the bees knees!
It also could be a wake-up call to all of us to make sure that we plant more wildflowers and protect nature's pollinators, but we prefer to appreciate it just for the pun that it is.
10. Elbow Macaroni
What better way to celebrate one of the more awkward body parts than by tattooing smiling pasta on it? Especially if that piece of macaroni is shaped like an elbow!
This tattoo is just too cute, with its rosy cheeks and adorable smile. We wish it was a printable sticker that we could take home to make us smile every day.
11. Under the C
This design is for all the Sponge Bob lovers out there, since he lives in a pineapple under the sea. It's a tasteful declaration of love for a ridiculous children's show.
We did have to look twice at this one in order to figure it out. It almost looks like a tattoo for a lover. Did you manage to guess it right away?
12. Submarine Sandwich
Sometimes we get sandwiches that are so good, we just want to dive in and sink down into their delicious goodness. This tattoo gets right to the heart of that feeling!
A submarine sandwich tattoo is perfect for both the pun lovers and the foodies. We love the details of the periscope and the antenna on top, it makes the sub feel even more authentic.
13. Bat-T
Another great tea pun, this time with our cute flying rodent friend, the bat. The ears and wings of the bat sticking out of the delicate teacup are such a great touch.
And of course, the person who got this tattoo must be a little BATTY about bats, and maybe about tea as well. They must be, since there is a little heart on the tea label.
14. Smoked Salmon
Have you ever smoked a salmon? Neither have we! But we found a salmon who smokes, does that count? We would probably recommend that this salmon should kick the habit, given the dark patches below his eyes.
This is quite a silly pun, and definitely makes for a conversation starter. The colors of the salmon are also quite lovely, and we can just imagine the smell of that delicious smoked salmon. Is anybody getting hungry?
15. Dragon Queen
What's the difference between a drag queen and a dragon queen? This tattoo is just so clever, since the beauty of the artwork is in all the little details that were added.
The pink dragon has some fierce eye makeup, a fabulous wig, some boobs, and a delicious-looking cocktail. She also appears to be making lots of noise instead of breathing fire. This one kind of drag-on show we could definitely get behind.
16. Sweet Tooth
If you love candy as much as we do, this is the perfect tattoo for you! We love how the gumdrops look good enough to eat, and the peppermint candy seems so real.
The little sparkles make the whole thing even sweeter. This artist definitely delivered on the punny tattoo front. Next stop for us: the candy store! And maybe afterwards we'll head to the tattoo parlor.
17. Oh Well
Ooh, this tattoo is just so beautiful and so clever, we can't handle it! Look at the detail on the stones, and the grain on the wood. It's just so spectacular.
Oh, well. Too bad we can't get one ourselves. (See what we did there?) This is just one of those smart and elegant tattoos for all those intellectual people in the world.
18. Taco 'Bout It
Who's up for a two-for-one special? When it comes to puns, we absolutely are! This clever tattoo gives two for the price of one, we couldn't have asked for more.
Lettuce taco 'bout it above a delicious looking taco. This pun tattoo just made our day. We have smiles for days. To the genius that came up with this, we thank you.
19. It's Goin' Tibia Ok
This is one of those puns that we truly would never have thought of on our own, but it is really very clever. It is going tibia ok, we promise.
Medical students may also appreciate this tattoo, especially the bone that goes with it. We wonder how accurate that drawing is. Did they model it after an actual tibia?
20. Two Cans
There is something so fun about toucans. Their large beaks and colors make them seem happy all the time. When toucans are combined with puns, we seriously just fall in love.
This tattoo is a toucan standing on two cans. Why? We don't know, but we love it. It looks so chill, almost like having a best friend on your shoulder with you everywhere you go.
21. Pug-tato
We can pretty much all agree that pugs are the most adorable, fugly little creatures. With their funny noses and tiny teeth, they're just so darn cute! So what happens when you cross a pug with a potato?
Why, a pug-tato of course! A seriously cute image, this tattoo is melting our hearts ten times over. We've got the pun, we've got the pug, and life is perfect.
22. No Body
Sometimes puns are brilliant for their obviousness, as is the case with this particular tattoo. Instead of coming off lonely, this skeleton just comes off a little silly.
With a rose in one hand, the skull declares "I have no body." And, in fact, he does not. Alas, poor sir, you are bodyless, and you are all the more funny for it.
23. Dis-Knee
We can all agree that Disney will forever hold a special place in our hearts. But how many people would pay tribute by making a permanent Disney pun on their body?
At least one person, apparently. The classic Disney font was used to make a pun on Disney with someone's knee. The must be a serious Disney fan.

Shrimp aren't the most attractive creatures, but they certainly do look nice in tattoos. Especially when they're wearing little party hats and holding a cocktail. This little fella just looks so happy!
The whole feel of this punny tattoo is light-hearted and fun, right down to that yummy looking green drink. This shrimp would definitely be the life of the party.
25. Cherry Bomb
This tattoo is smoking! Such a fun phrase with an equally fun tattoo. The match, the smoke, the cherries, everything just looks awesome. We absolutely love this artwork.
It seems like it was a blast to design and ink this tattoo as well. The artists must be some proud of his or herself, because this is definitely an eye-catcher as well as a pun.
26. Holy Cow
We never would have expected anyone to make a visual representation of this phrase, but here it is, a cow with a halo. Literally, a holy cow. It's both as lame and as funny as we could have imagined.
And since most puns are both lame and hilarious at the same time, this tattoo is a win for us. Plus the cow looks pretty happy. We just wonder how he got that halo...
27. Investi-gator
Awww, look at this little guy! Alligators are supposed to be terrifying, but this adorable detective alligator looks like he just wants to be friends. He is just too cute!
We love the clothing details in the artwork: the vest, the trench coat, the hat. He's even holding a magnifying glass. If this guy had his own TV series we would binge it all in one sitting.
28. Hammer Time
Sharks always get such a bad rap. They're made out to be terrifying creatures who could kill you in an instant, when the reality is that there are so few shark attacks. Clearly this hip-hop loving shark just wants to hang out.
He's got some awesome sparkly yellow pants and some dancing shoes, and he's just looking for some buds to have an awesome time with. We love this pun and the iconic song that it refers to.
29. Math Lover's Tattoo
We're not big on math, but if you are, this tattoo is absolutely genius. The question to ask with this one is: do you like my Tan? This simple elegance of this one is what makes it so great.
We love that someone decided to take their love of math to the next level and brand it on their skin. Not only that, but it's an automatic conversation starter.
30. Whisk Taker
This tattoo design had us laughing out loud. The sweet punniness of the design just melted out hearts. We can just imagine a little voice saying this phrase, and it's so cute.
The design on the handle of the whisk combined with the font also give the design an antique air, lending it even more charm. Well done to the artist who created this.
31. Knotty Boy
Whoops, don't get tied up in knots! This is such a great pun tattoo. Even the words are spelled out using rope. It's definitely a design that will make you look twice.
It's also quite simple, which is what makes it so relatable, and the hands are very beautifully done. Yet another creative genius walks among us in the world!
32. On Your Knee
This one took a bit of time for us to get, but once we did, we totally loved the idea behind it. Have you figured it out yet?
There's SOMETHING on your knee! Get it? We think it's very clever, although we wonder if the person who has it ever gets tired of people saying that to them.

This sweet tattoo, with the pun built right in and awesome art to boot. Who knew the devil could look so adorable? With looks like that we'd follow him to hell and beyond.
34. Thermos-tat
This expertly drawn thermos tattoo is exactly what it seems; it's a thermos-tat! This pun tattoo ranks up there with some of the world's worst bad dad jokes.
But you have to admit, even the bad dad jokes make you smile just a little with how bad they are. And at least this pun had amazing artwork to go with it.
35. Love Me Knot
This lovey tattoo has us running loops around ourselves. The artist chose to take something uncertain, the game of he loves me-he loves me not, into something that cannot be undone, a knot.
This is a beautiful tattoo, and hopefully it was acquired as a celebration of love between two people, and not just as some cruel joke about how loved ties us in knots.
36. Tramp Stamp
We all make fun of the dreaded tramp stamp tattoos, and here someone decided to take it to the next level and get an actual Tramp stamp. It is a stamp with the character of Tramp in it.
That little guy is actually very loveable, and he is also very protective of innocents who might be in danger, so all in all, we give a thumbs up to the pun and to the tattoo as well.
37. Otter Disgrace
It takes a strong person to get a pun tattoo, and an even stronger person to get a pun tattoo that pokes fun at the idea of letting everyone down.
But here it is, that fearless tattoo: Otter Disgrace. Who doesn't love otters? All we can picture are their adorable little faces. That definitely softens the effect of what would otherwise be a pretty angry tattoo.
38. Bee Positive
Sometimes you need those pun vibes to remind you to stay on your path and follow your dreams. This lovely design does just that! Bee Positive, and keep moving forward.
The happy yellow color on this bee adds brightness to the word next to it. This punny tattoo is sure to help the person who has it keep their head up even when its hard.
39. Leaf Me Alone
A perfect tattoo for all of us introverts in the world! Sometimes all we want is a break from the madness, and for everyone to just leave us alone.
The expression on the pot is absolutely perfect as well. He seems overwhelmed, like he doesn't know what to do with himself, and he needs to get out of here RIGHT NOW. Aww, poor little guy.
40. El Bow
And one last time, how best to celebrate awkward body parts than by adorning them with adorable, punny artwork? We present: the el-bow! (Get it? Elbow?) And it's on this person's elbow, too.
The bow is beautifully inked and looks soft and lovely, everything that an elbow is not. And yet, somehow, it makes the elbow look nicer. Who knew tattoos could do that?
