Some actors have exactly what it takes in order to make us notice them. We remember them and want to see more of them, even if they weren't the main character of the movie. Here is a list of some great actors and actresses who we would have loved to see as the main character, for they with no doubt, steal the spotlight.
1. Hermione Granger From 'Harry Potter'
Things don't just happen to Hermione, She makes them happen. This girl sure still the focus for us in the Harry Potter movies. Her story as a Muggle-born witch is intriguing, and it could've been cool to see a standard 'chosen one' tale told from the perspective of the 'non-chosen one.
Hermione is low-key hilarious, beautiful, and smart and we can't imagine Harry without her, saving his life every couple of minutes.
2. Valkyrie From 'Thor: Ragnarok'
Valkyrie has totally stolen the show from the main character Thor. Her background as a protector of the realm who lost love ones to the main villain is super interesting and she is far more badass than Thor, Loki, and the Hulk altogether.
Valkyrie is brave, strong and we can't help but wonder, when will she get her own movie, where we can see her on the screen most of the time.
3. Dr. Jo Harding From 'Twister'
She is Bold, She is Gorges and smart and she has a smile that makes you want to give her a hug. Jo from Twister is the real reason we adore this movie. Played by the lovely Helen Hunt, She is, for us, the main character of this movie.
Jo takes her personal tragedy and turns it into her profession. She is an expert in the field of storm chasing, and later on, we all understand that the storm is inside of her. Jo is a natural main character and thanks god she has done plenty of movies since.
4. O'Ren From 'Kill Bill'
There are some really iconic female characters in the Tarantino Trilogy of 'Kill Bill', but O'ren is the one that stands up as the most interesting, brutal, and magnetic of them all. O'ren most definitely deserves to be in the spotlight as the main character.
Throwout the movie we get a glimpse of O'ren's background and it would have been great to get some more. She has her own army in which she controls and if we are at it, let's give her ruthless soldier Gogo Yubari to be the side character.
5. Padmé Amidala From the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy
Queen at 14, Senator at 24, and a fashion icon in every age, Padmé is overall an underrated character and deserves more screen time. She is Luck and Leia's mom, super important to understand the whole story, and not only as a part of the Dart Vaider origin story.
Played by the beautiful Nataly Portman, Padmé died after giving birth to her twins. She believed in the good in people and stayed loyal to her principles. She is a strong inspiring character which we would have loved seeing more of.
6. Princess Leia From The Star Wars Trilogy
Princess Leia is an iconic figure that we all grow on and love. The Star Wars movie starts with Princess Leia but the story then framed around Luk, while Leia is hilarious, driven, and bold.
Princess Leia was considered to be a feminist model and her cinnamon roll hairdo made her a fashion icon as well. She is with no doubt the best side character we would have loved to see more in the spotlight.
7. Gamora From 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
Gamora is another Marvel movie character who truly deserves a breakout of its own. although 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is a team film, and all the characters are equally presented, most of the film is framed around Star-Lord.
Well, we are here to say that Gamora has the potential of carrying a movie of her own and she will rock it. In the 'Guardians of the Galaxy', she proved that she can make a great standalone appearance.
8. Aurora Lane From 'Passengers'
There is no doubt that 'Passengers' would have been far much better if Aurora Lane was the main character. Just imagine the movie from her point of view and framing the entire story around her premature reviving.
Coming to think about it, every movie that stars Jennifer Lawrence as the female side character is doomed to be a disappointment. This girl owns the screen and should totally get the spotlight, especially in this movie.
9. Hit-Girl From 'Kick-Ass'
While Kick-Ass is the main character, Hit-Girl was the star for us to begin with. This Marvel superhero appeared in the Kick-Ass movie from 2010 as a young but effective vigilante, trained by her father from an early age to be a customer superhero and assassin.
In 2018 Hit-Girl featured in her own self-titled comic book series, but the sequel making Hit-Girl the star is yet to be filmed after several attempts back in 2015. Fingers crossed that soon we will get her in the leading role.
10. Marion Ravenwood From 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'
We first met Marion when Indiana Jones arrives in Nepal needing her help to locate the Ark of the Covenant. Marion's character is a strong rounded woman, fearless and sensitive, vulnerable and staberen.
She has style, she had Jones's heart and she was would have been a great leading character in one of the Indiana Jones movies. God knows we can use more women like her around.
11. Princess Jasmine From 'Aladdin'
Admit that it had crossed your minds as well. This Disney Princess that speaks her mind and is 'Not a prize for a man to win' is a feminist icon and would have been an incredible main character in a movie of her own, without the shadow of any man, no disrespect to Aladdin.
Unlike other Disney princesses, Jasmin is the side character in this film, but she is smart and independent and perfectly capable of taking care of herself without waiting for a prince to rescue her. Our kind of girl and the perfect candidate for a movie of her own.
12. Chenille Reynolds From 'Save the Last Dance'
The beautiful Kerry Fisher who played Chenille Reynolds in the hit movie 'Save the Last Dance' would have been an awesome main character. If someone will ever consider making a remake, we would love to see the movie from her point of view.
Reynolds plays the main character's best friend, a teenage single mom who has relashenship problems with her ex-boyfriend and she is the one that takes Sara for the first time to a hip hop club.
13. Poison Ivy From 'Batman & Robin'
Let's be clear on this one, Poison Ivy is the only character that is truly interesting in 'Batman & Robin'. Why do we need to see these two and not get the whole version of Ivy, who later on in the movie becomes Poison Ivy?
Uma Thurman plays this magnifying character of Poison Ivy and like any role she ever played in, she made this character strong, funny, and sexy. We think it's a must that she will get a movie where she will be the lead and Batman and Robin will follow.
14. Kathryn Merteuil From 'Cruel Intentions'
There are two brothers in this movie, and the female character is yet again, pushed to the side. Kathryn Merteuil, played by Sarah Michelle Geller, is far darker, and much more complex and interesting than her stepbrother is. So why is the story framed father him and not her?
Kathryn has what it takes to be an ideal main character: she is rich, beautiful, and evil. she is manipulative, sharp, and has outfits to die for. why wouldn/t we want to watch a movie from her point of view?
15. Aibileen Clark From 'The Help'
This film is an ideal candidate for more main stories by his side actors. We met Aibileen Clark in the movie 'The Help' and fell in love immediately. She is a strong powerful woman and we wish the story of the film was around here and only her.
Aibileen Clark plays Viola Davis, a brave African American maid who helps tell the story of many housemaids in the '60s in Jackson, Mississippi. It would have been interesting learning more about her past, her family, and the way that led her to where the movie starts.
16. Dr. Ellie Sattler From 'Jurassic Park'
Dr. Ellie Sattler From 'Jurassic Park' is our favorite women actors of the '90s. She totally made the movie, secondary only maybe to T-Rax (who is also a lady). Her smile, her energy, and her cool style make her the perfect main character.
During the movie, we get to learn that Sattler is a quick thinker, passionate, and way more interesting than any of the men characters in the movie. We want to see more of her in the next remake!
17. Domino From 'Deadpool 2'
It's time we say it out loud, Domino rocks! played by the beautiful German American actress Zazie Beetz, Domino is a side character we couldn't stop seeing. Sure, Wade Wilson is fun and all but we all want to see more Zazie.
It's time to bring Domino and her special birthmark over her eye to the spotlight and leave Deadpool to be the side character in the next movie.
18. Princess Fiona From 'Shrek'
We know what you all think, we all love Shrek, but Fiona did a long way for herself and it's not only his story but also her. Se learned all about self-love, and self-acceptance as Shrek did plus she is sweet and lovely.
Wouldnt it be much more interesting to hear her side of the story before the green dude entered her life? For us, she is the only princes worth watching.
19. Luna Lovegood From 'Harry Potter'
We first lay eyes on Luna in 'Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix'. She was described as isolated at school but one that doesn't care what others feel about her. She has misty and silvery eyes and her character always looks like she is surprised.
Luna is played by Irish actress Evanna, that had to bleach her hair into light blond in order to play the role of Luna. She has that complex look and magnifying attitude that makes us wish she will get the lead.
20. Marla From 'Fight Club'
You have to admit that it's not easy to stand out between Brad Pitt and Edward Norton, but Marla, played by Helena Bonham Carter is what makes 'Fight Club' so great.
Marla's scenes are the best scenes in the movie. She brings womanly energy that is so needed to the movie and spreads her charm in every scene she appears in. We wish we would have gotten more of Marla.
21. Fat Amy From 'Pitch Perfect'
Fat Amy is the best part of 'Pitch Perfect'! Her character was the funniest and let's be honest, making her the story would have been much better than Anna Kendrick's character.
Fat Amy is played by Rebel Wilson, is a comedic and eccentric member of the Bellas. She stared in all 3 of the 'Pitch Perfect' movies and it's time to put her in the spotlight for a solo ride.
22. Lisa From 'Girl, Interrupted'
Lisa, played by Angelina Jolie is the most intriguing character in the movie. Although Winona Ryder's Susan is the main character in the movie, Lisa totally steals the show. She is mysterious, complex, and has no fear.
Just imagine a movie that tells Lisa's story from the beginning. There were other names that audition for the role of Lisa like Courtney Love and Alanis Morissette but Jolie took the role and made it what it is today.
23. Emily From 'The Devil Wears Prada'
Talk about stealing the spotlight, Emily From 'The Devil Wears Prada' could have been an awesome main character in this movie. She played Miranda Priestly's senior assistant next to the main character, Andrea Sachs.

24. Janis From 'Mean Girls'
Janis is one of the most layered and funniest characters in 'Mean Girls'.It would have been super interesting to see flashbacks to when she and Regina were best friends.

25. Anna From 'Frozen'
The Million dollar question is who is the main character in 'Frozen'. For us the real queen is Anna. Anna makes Frozen and She deserved to be in the lead and not just being the one cleaning after her sister's mess.
Anna has exactly what it takes to be the main character of the movie. She is beautiful, funny smart, and fearless. At least she gets the good-looking guy, leaving her sister only with Olaf.
26. MJ From 'Spiderman: Homecoming'
Michelle Jones is also known as MJ. We don't know much about her past and got to know her only in highschool. She is sarcastic, a bit of an outsider, and has problems establishing friendships.
Jones is seen almost in every scene reading a book. She always speaks her mind even if it can hurt others and she is not afraid to be herself. a true main character that we would have loved seeing takes the spotlight.
27. Rizzo From 'Grease'
With all due respect to Sandy and Danny Zuko, the real star of 'Grease' was Rizo. She had a real character in her, unlike other characters in the movie, who were just teenagers with no dept.
Rizo was dealing with real-life issues while the other characters spent their days around the usual teenage problems. She has the potential of having a movie framed just around her story and it's going to be s a good one.
28. Dionne From 'Clueless'
While Cher played by Alicia Silverstone stole the spotlight with her blood, the real queen of 'Clueless' is Dionne. She is an Unproblematic, Fashion-forward, loved-up, career focussed girl, who would have been awesome as the main character.
Dionne is in a steady relashenship with Murray Duvall, a relashenship that has its ups and downs, which we would have loved to see more from. Dionne is well-spoken and intelligent dar more the main character in the movie and we deserve to see more from her.
29. Nancy From 'The Craft'
We are with team Nancy! She was totally misunderstood in the movie. She clearly grows up in a bad situation, making her dark and feeling like an outcast. She was not truly understood throwout the movie which led her to turn dark for all the wrong reasons.
Nancy was shown to be a troubled and rebellious girl, becoming unstable and self-observed. She is rude, speaks her mind, and doesn't really trust people. With this character, we would have loved seeing more about her past and what has brought her to the point where the story begins.
30. Shoshanna Dreyfus From 'The Inglorious Bastards'
Wow, Shoshanna. What a character. She is magnifying and beautiful, and we just want to see more and more of her. She speaks mostly French in the movie which adds to her charming character.
Shoshanna would have been the ultimate main character in the movie, getting to know more about her family and the things that led her to become the owner of the cinema that eventually that Nazis get killed in by the Basterds. She finds her death in the screening room of the cinema and leaves us heartbroken and wanting more of her.
31. Fantine From 'Les Misérables'
The beautiful Fantine is a simple working-class woman who gets pregnant from a rich student and forced to do whatever it takes to provide for her, losing herself in the way. Fantine is a symbol of devotion and self-abnegation.
She was played by many actresses in films and on stage. She became an icon of female victimhood and it would have been super interesting giving her the spotlight and making Fantone the main character of the movie.
32. Natasha Romanoff From 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'
Natasha Romanoff is also known as the 'Black Widow', is played by Scarlett Johansson, and is a Russian spy with expertise in hand-to-hand combat. She eventually becomes part of the counter-terrorism agency S.H.I.E.L.D.

33. Crazy Eyes From 'Orange Is the New Black'
So she is not blond or the leader of a gang, but Crazy Eyes is surely the most interesting character in the hit series 'Orange Is the New Black. Suzanne 'Crazy eyes' Warren is intelligent, yet lacking in social skills and suffering from emotional outbursts when agitated.
Crazy Eyes is the only character that got an Emmy awarded recognition in both the comedy and drama garners. She could have gotten a bigger role in the show and can definitely stand alone as she is worthy of all recognition.
34. Broomhilda Von Shaft From 'Django Unchained'
Broomhilda is the wife of Django and a former slave. She is starring in a large portion of the film but the movie surrounds Django and not her, for no real reason. Broomhilda is the force that triggers him into action and the one that turned the characters in the movie into what they really are.
Broomhilda is the ultimate main figure, she has the ability to magnet the viewers, and you just want to get more of her. We see a great future ahead of her.
35. Johanna Mason From 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'
Johanna is a victor at heart. She is the victor of the 71st Hunger Games and the third youngest after Ketniss and Peeta. She is a strong woman character and is actually the last living victor of her district at the end of the trilogy.
Johanna has a fasenating story, she is fearless and attractive. We would have loved to see more of her and learn more about her early years and the lost of her family.
36. Mal From 'Inception'
Mal is an amazing side character that with no doubt should have gotten the main role in this movie. She is sexy and loyal to her husband Dom, who performed inception on her making her believe that her world wasn't actually real.
Mal had a tragic death when she jumped out the window of her hotel. Even after her death, Mal continues to hunt her husband's dream. That's how persistent and determined she is. She deserves a better closure to her story.
37. Edna Mode From 'The Incredibles'
We just adore Edna! Can someone please give her a movie of her own already? Edna from 'The Incredibles' is a true character. Half Japanese and half German, she is a fashion designer who hates supermodels for they all look the same in her eyes.
Edna is such a good character that she appeared in the original movie and in the sequel. She designed the superhero suits and her short figure, strange hairdo and big black glasses made her a remarkable Pixar character that deserves a place in the spotlight.
38. Diggy From 'Dope'
Diggy, played by Kiersey Clemons, is kind of a tomboy. She is the first queer character in an all black movie. She wears only snapbacks and baggy jeans all throw out the movie, and in some scenes, she looks pretty muscelant. That's exactly what makes her so unique and interesting. She is complex and bold and must have more screen time.
All throw the movie, Diggy is still a woman and she demonstrates issues that many of the queer Afro-American community is facing. She could be a very interesting main character in a movie that will probably be a huge hit.
39. Shoshanna Shapiro From 'Girls'
Our beloved Shoshanna, or as we like to call her: 'Shosh' should get her own TV series. She is the most interesting character in the hit series 'Girl', that we all fell in love with. Shosh reveals pretty early in the show that she is a virgin and raises awareness of the subject to many young women.
It's only when she gets in a relashenship with Ray, that Shosh finally loses her virginity. She has a business major from NYU, she is smart, and has career ambitions. She always says her mind and wears her oddness proudly.
40. Peggy Olson From 'Mad Men'
When we first ley eye on Peggy Olson back in 2007, she was a shy secretary just trying not to get fired. Over the 8 seasons of the show, Peggy has become the cool, sexy, and strong woman we always knew she could be.
We have watched Peggy getting a bigger place in the show, symbolizing a strong empowered woman surviving and succeeding in a very manly, chauvinist world. We demand that Peggy will get her own remake of the show under the name: 'The Women Of Madison Eve'.
